Clunk on kick down

Was going 60km/h and pressed to kick down when I heard a clunk from beneath the car. Sounded like I'd driven over a rock. Couldn't accelerate properly but got past the SUV mum who was holding everyone up. Used the paddles and all seemed ok. No warning lights. What could it be?

Kinda vague description there... Did you feel anything through the seat? Did the rev's jump? Possible you hit a pothole? Could be anything

The gear change now sounds muffled and there is a resistance to acceleration.
On the way to the doctor with my son just now the engine warning light came on so drove it home and used the spare car to go to our doctor appointment.
I'll need to get a tow to a garage I suppose. Any recommendations in Perth?

I would check to see if your charge pipe has come lose before you get it towed. Could save you a lot of money.

F$&k me you are right!
The throttle end has come away and the c-clip was off but hanging onto a cable luckily. I've removed the front air intake but don't know how to remove the filter box. I need to as it's hard to get two hands onto the decoupled end of the charge pipe. That end looks frayed and not a clean pipe so I'm not sure if some of it has broken off. I pushed it on with one hand and pushed the c-clip on but it just pops off again.

Sorry are you saying that the charge pipe needs replacing?

Okay I'm resolved to ordering a new charge pipe. Does the air box just pull away from the two rubber-covered bolts?

Removed it by just pulling up. There are three cables to free too. The throttle end of the charge pipe has perished hence the c-clip coming off. Even intact I can't see how a c-clip that isn't fully spherical can provide a tight seal.

Ordered a new cp but did have a go at reconnecting mine. It seems to stay on okay but the engine warning light is still lit. Does this require a tool/device to clear?

You ordered a replacement metal charge pipe right?
Codes can be cleared easily with something like the Carly for BMW app and a bluetooth OBD dongle. Ive never used one myself, but have heard good things on here. Pretty cheap too.

The light cleared after two engine starts. But after a short drive came on again. On inspection the pipe has worked loose so I retakes it but the light is staying on after several starts. I took a look at the frayed end and couldn't see the gasket. Maybe it got blown out. Will need to see if I can get one locally.

Can you send a picture of what part is coming loose?

Also just FYI if you "reply" or "quote" someone's message they'll get a notification so they know to respond. I didn't see any of your replies above till now.

Good on ya for getting the metal replacement though, the stock CP's in these cars are big trouble.

Yeah I don't like to quote because it makes the whole thread harder to read.
I resealed with more duct tape and it's holding up for now. When it breaks again or when the new one arrives I'll take a pic.

Here's the faulty pipe. As you can see the throttle end has broken apart. The new aluminium replacement pipe has been rock solid.
