hey guys I just had the shop I bought my 2010 e82 put a different motor in as they said it would be cheaper to replace the motor than to fix it.. I bought the car in feb and I started to notice engine issues right away, took it to an independent bmw repair shop in Calgary, they said there was 6500 in engine issues.. thus I went back to the dealership I bought the car from and told them to fix them as I bought a warranty from them.. sooooooo they got a motor from the wreckers, but gave me no info on the motor as in yr, milage, ect... the valve cover gasket is leaking like a sieve plugs are shot, pvc hose is busted, plus plus plus... so frustrated, I brought it back and asked them what the hell they did to this motor its worse than the one they removed.... they said we replace the motor your warranty is now used and no good anymore.. please leave our shop.... Nice.. ps the name of the crooks shop is Royal Auto in Calgary.... so the motor has a number on the side can anyone give me a web site to go to to find out any info on this motor...

I think the 77 number is probably a wrecking yard number only.
The N52 number is the BMW engine code for a 128.

Have no more relationship with RA. Best to now work with the indy BMW garage. Strongly recommend joining BMW Clubs Canada; hopefully therein you'll meet other knowledgeable BMW guys who can help in the future.

Do you have the documentation on the warranty you bought from Royal Auto? Does it say anything about a maximum claim amount? If not, you should go into the dealer and tell them that they need to honor the warranty and fix your car properly, or you'll be forced to take legal action.

legal action is pending.. I will get a lawyer to read the fine print and advise as to what action to take.. meanwhile we would like some background info on this motor.
