DTC operation
Can anyone tell me if the dtc operarates based on preset parameters, or will wider tires with more grip equal faster acceleration with all other factors remaining constant?

Lets simplify.....is an lsd better considering they're not any i know of available for under $1600. I am very interested in knowing what everyone who has the newer version of BMW's traction control thinks as well as everyone who has an M car or has made the upgrade. Thanks

I, for one, wouldn't dream of using my DTC on and autocross course. I've done it in my e90 (by mistake), and it was a big mistake. It retards the throttle at the most inopportune times, and immediately becomes a nuisance.
That being said, I would hope that the newly announced "more-like-a-lsd" version of this electronic nannery lives up to the hype, but I doubt it can come remotely close to a real LSD, which I'm also pretty familiar with, seeing I installed one on my e36. |

Surprisingly, the 335i's launch very well when you push the dtc button once. But they are no substitute for powering through the exit of a corner. Even with 383 ft @wheels on my proceded 335i, once you practice you get little slip. The 60' times of 1.6-1.9 are testament to this. It's not uncommom for a AWD evo to turn out a 1.7 60' with a good driver.
On my accelerometer (g-tech) I consistently get 0-60 in 4.5 and bests of 4.23 and 4.29 quaife offers an lsd now for 1500 w/o install. |

I have AT, I brake torque to 2k. Also, you must short shift this sucka. It's consensus that optimum shift point is around 6300 rpm. I like 6200.
