Im not sure about that one because normally, BMW USA don't sell to someone who have no adress in the state... I see everyday cars importation and every car have a ''Transit'' and are ALL register to Vermont DMV...

You'll need to fax a copy of it to your insurance company too, typically. Although some dealers will not sell to Canadians, search around and you'll find one. That being said, $6300 probably still isn't worth the hassle and the drop in potential resale down the road. Plus, if you plan to have your car serviced at the dealer, they might treat you like crap for importing a car from the US. If you plan to service it yourself, no big deal obviously.

(The basic way to put this is that when it comes to vehicles that are not titled, you pay the taxes where you live, not where you purchase).

I said no, reason why is simple:
1. It's a hassle to arrange, get all the inspections, etc. plus all the fees here and there...plus you're also assuming that the the Gov't will allow you to import a 1-series from the US.... and 2. It's insulting. If BMW wanted my business, all they had to do was give me a fair deal...instead they give you a big steaming pile of :bs: and expect you to eat it...No, I think not...If I'm ever going to own a BMW it will be a car I buy in Canada, and will be a deal that doesn't leave me wondering: "why do I want to give my business to a company that treats me as if they don't want it?":iono: |

Good points. I don't think they treat customers like they don't want your business...I think they treat customer like they make the greatest cars on earth and it's a privilege to drive a BMW. I've been to place with cars worth way more then BMW's and are better cars, all of them treat you better.. |

1 for the road

Before anyone gets too excited about importing a 1er from the U.S., you may want to take a look at the postings regarding dealer allocations and BMW cutbacks. It doesn't look like there wil be any 1's for us to import. Also, I really doubt that any U.S. dealer is going to risk problems with their franchise agreement by selling to Canadians when they are selling off everything they can get in.

What cut backs? The origianal annoucement was 10,000 for the USA, and it still is. Anyway... a lot of people in the US think that the 1er is overpriced... go figure.
And really, it's 10,000 for for 6 months, not like it's for a full year. In september, the 2009s will be out. |
