Dealing
Has anyone here tried squeezing a few dollars out of BMW? I am trying to talk my dealer down by about $2000. $1000 of that, I'm asking them to pricematch with Audi's new grad bonus. The other $899, I'm asking for as tire warranty given the expensive nature of RFTs (which are technically forced on us). He doesn't seem to want to budge, but that $2000 difference will matter to me when the rate drops to 4.9ish next year.
Anyone have any success?

You'll get a discount if you try hard enough. I've never paid MSRP for a car in my life, including "hot new models" that "are not discounted."
$2,000 might be pushing it on this car though, to be fair.

I was thinking bout it.. but like Carnut said.. waste of time.. imagine a car that is in high demand by the few who are willing to pay the price and take the rates.. plus all this preordering and reducing of allocation in the US due to low margins.. you dont buy it, even better.. they dont have to build it or someones gonna take it off their hands anyway.. only reason companies drop their pants is if the car is mass produced or it is in year 3-4 and they are coming out with the new version.

It was more an ethical thing to me. RFT's shouldn't be standard. And all the other manufacturers offer new grad bonuses. More like a PR thing, less of an economics thing.

Slight update on my progress.. Dealer said NO to the new-grad thing.. so I don't think I will suck that out of them. We're sitting at a MAYBE on the tire warranty (which I think should be included anyway).
But here is an interesting development.. an offer has been put forward involving free BMW driving school. While it doesn't reduce my monthly payments, I might just look into this.

BTW I really think everyone should TRY instead of just laying down. Who knows, ONE of us might get lucky and that's really all we need to get the ball rolling. Maybe I'm just used to fighting for every dollar..

Interesting. I'd probably go for that. It's gotta be worth around $600 and it's the kind of thing I'd love to do, but wouldn't drop the cash on...

Depends where you live, I got 1500 over invoice without any hassle in boulder, colorado. In california I would expect to pay full invoice just about anywhere, any maybe more in LA, especially hollywood.
You're dollar is strong but that probably won't affect the dealer at all, just BMW's bottom line. |

Valid point here dude, plus what's the worst they will say "No" They will never discount anything or offer u anything without you asking. Well I shouldn't say never but very rarely.
