Scheduled Maintenance

Since I leased my 128i, they also included the Service inclusive upgrade. My question is, how do I know when the car needs maintanence done? Will it be indicated through the system in the car (i.e the dash)? Since it is leased, I don't plan on doing "extra" maintanence. Also, my mileage is quite low, so I don't see my self putting 20000km at the end of the first year. Will they still do an oil change if I have less than 20000km at the end of the year (i.e. the indicator is not on in the car). Is there a schedule that shows when we should go for maintanence? For my old car, I had a table in my manual. A lot of the services were done after x years regardless of kms. However, with this car it seems the service is only done after a certain number of kms regardless of the number of years. Are there any services done after x years regardless of kms?

The service intervals will vary. The indicator actually isnt just based on km's...but a mix of driving style, km's and maybe more. So if you dont plan on doing any extra service... i wouldnt worry. The car will likely "Warn you" to schedule a service close to the 1 year mark even if km's are low.

I'm not sure that the car tracks elapsed time, just mileage only. Just take it in at the end of one year and the dealer will do an oil change and not reset the service indicator. Then when the service indicator says to service they will do a complete service regimen.

just keep driving and the service warning light will alert you for oil change etc...
I've done 10000km on mine and I only went in once for an oil change.
no other work is needed.

I did the same with my last leased E90 323i. It only once asked for a maintenance service, at around 19000km, I only had it for two years, got rid of it at 25k, and it was still saying next service at 34k.

The only other thing I got once, was an oil low indicator. It came up saying it needed 1Qt of oil, I did it myself with appropriate grade oil, the warning went away, so I skipped that visit to the dealer.

Oh, it knows. Mine is creeping closer and closer based on time and use. It's now saying the first service is 15,000. My wifes car still says 20,000km to service.

In Canada, all BMWs, leased or financed, or cash purchase come with a standard maintenance program, which means for 4yrs/80,000 km (whichever comes first) they give you free oil change, filter replacements, etc. You are, however, still responsible for break pads, wipers, etc. What you got with your car (because you leased early) is an INCLUSIVE (as you said) maintenance program (worth $750) that basically takes care of the break pads, wipers, and pretty much everything else.
