Ticking noise and model year
Ok, I have to ask.....I have been reading a lot about this ticking noise issue, and wonder if anyone can shed any light on what model year(S) it pertains to. Seems that all of the posts I am reading, it is affecting the 06-08's. Anyone experiencing this with the 09?
Is it now fixed with the new head? |

Yeah I would like to know what the bleed procedure is as well. It bothers me, but thats what happens when you have a slick 135.

i have a 125i (same as 128i) and had this happen a couple of times when it was really quite cold and i had been doing about a weeks worth of short trips. it pretty much disappeared straight away when i went on a longer drive, and now that the weather has warmed up a little it doesnt occur anymore...

my 128i has this issue but was easily fixed.... warmed up the car for a good 10min then drove for another 10min then got out on the road and took the engine to 5k or so once or twice and when I arrived at my destination the engine sounded smooth as silk again with no noise..... someone posted the bleed procedure in another forum I cant remember exactly which one but it was kinda odd... warm the vehicle for 15min then take the rpms up to 2k-3k for a couple minutes then they say to repeat that about 4 times

my moms 08 x3 does. she took it in and they fixed it and its coming back now a few months later. oh well
never heard of this on an n54 i think it has to do with driving the car at to low of an rpm for too long... good excuse for me to floor it every once in awhile.
