Amber vs Clear Signals?
I have searched for a definitive answer but found nothing so far... why is it that some 135s have amber signals in the front headlight assembly and others are clear? Is it a mod or are they clear with certain packages or in certain locations?

I think you answered your question, I wondered the same thing. I think for some its a mod but also in some places outside of the states its standard, I guess it just depends.

Only outside of North America get clears. You can purchase the "foreign" ones and swap them. They cost about 1200usd for the set.

North American cars are required to have an amber reflector on the front of the car. Some BMWs have these integrated into the bumper (E92, 09+ E90s) while others have them integrated into the headlight (06-08 E90s, 1-Series). The Euro models do not require this reflector so they get clear headlights.

they're not 1200, 1200 includes ballasts and bulbs. If you have stock Xenons you just swap your bulbs/ballasts.
Figure 600-700 for the clear housings, I've done this on e90's before ![]()

Depends on where you buy them. I went on ebay.de and paid 400 euro for a used set complete and were in great shape. Best mod I made yet and I all had to do was remove the front bumper cover for access which took about 4 hours total install.

I have no intentions on paying even $1,150 plus shipping from Europe for one or both of them. I am perfectly happy with amber. In fact, the deeper and more brilliant the amber is, the more I like it. Amber rocks!!!!
Thanks for the link, though. |
