Yes, they are similar in appearance - they share the same heritage, however none of the key parts are interchangaeble, and the fuel delivery system is entirley different. Not to mention the ECU etc. There is no way to add the turbo from the 135 setup as a bolt on mod, that's for sure.

Yes. I was just heading off the "the N54 is just an M54 with turbos" people before they could post. We know they're still out there.
The specs aren't in front of me, but I'm pretty sure the bore/stroke is also different between the N52 and N54. The only "economical" way to convert an x28i into an x35i is to drive it to the dealership and trade it in. |

LAWL. I'm never here but I had to comment on this. I though it was absolutely hilarious. So I guess your statement contradicts EVERY car magazine out there.

Ohh and the N54 and the N52, although similar, are two very different designs, with different constructions and materials. |

Why the heck would u want to turbo ur 128, spending a bundle and making it unreliable..
there's nothing wrong with normally aspirated.... if i had a 128 i would install bolt on's, and install a dry nitrous kit using a supplemental fuel pump, and build up the suspension to get very quick 60ft times. which is extremely safe when set up properly and used conservatively..Problem is, guys keep increasing the jet size. Normally aspirated with bolt ons and drag radials should yield mid to low 13's easily and low 12's with a conservative nitrous and good traction..plus u can beat up a lot of 135's |

I wanna see a 128i running low 12's without a turbo or s/c... Not saying I don't believe you but I just wanna see it...

I would personally venture to say that on a 3L N/A engine, headers, exhaust, port and polishing the heads, LSD and some slicks should easily get one into the 12's. |
