Are there any negatives to putting the bigger tire size on the stock m sport rim?

heavier tires... unsprung weight is about the worst thing you can do when seeking performance...

As far as big, what were you referring to? The width? aspect ratio?

As long as you do not go beyond the recommended tire size for the rim width and stay within 3% of the stock rolling diameter, there should not be a problem.
