Where to get tire insurance?

I'd like to get tire and wheel insurance for my 135i (on order for December PCD), but don't know who to get it from. Is my dealer my only choice? Have any of you bought it from third parties? Been happy with your choice? What's a good price?

(I'm planning on staying with the stock RFTs and wheels; I'm in northern CA, which has no real winter weather but which does have lots of potholes and rough roads around here. Want to avoid a $600 surprise one day.)

So you would rather pay $800-1,200 to prevent a $600 surprise? These tire plans rarely pay off. You're much better off paying as you go IF you have any problems. A rear tire is about $400 installed from a local tire shop so you would have to puncture 3 tires for it to even start making financial sense.

I've done lots of investigation, and it seems clear tire insurance pays off for some folks and not for others; some hate it and some swear by it. Given my situation, I'm interested — it may not be right for you, but I think it probably is for me.

Anybody know of good places to get it? What's a good price? Anything other than the dealer?

Dealership.

But, again, why. If you develop a flat, stop. Fix it. Don't drive on your runflat while flat...it'll save the tire, and providing you didn't buy the insurance, you're money up when it comes time to ditch the awful-handling runflats anyway.

Midlands, are you going to keep the run flats on your car when they wear out? Most people switch to convention sport tires because of the improved ride and handling. If you think you will change to convention tires, then tire insurance makes little sense.
