BMW 1 Series M Coupe 340hp Confirmed! US version (or F30/F32 M3) gets 451hp.
Reported on 1addicts Homepage.
Hi Gang, Ok, I am not gonna say where I got this screen shot from. I will say that in my quest for a German flash tune... I came accross this little tibit/jewel! 1M code named "Pyrat" by BMW... It looks to me that this is confirmation that the new 1M will have 250 Kw N54engine. That is 340 HP. Engine code: N54B3OTO What is even more interesting is the highlight text! Looks like BMW is thinking about a special US only model with 332 Kw or 451 HP! I personally think this will be the engine that ends up in the next M3. I don't think BMW will offer a 1M with this sort of HP power. But seeing it on the screen is very interesting indeed! It also looks to be the very same 1M Engine code: N54B3OTO, which would suggest that with only a tune/SW the 1M engine will make another 100 Hp!!! Food for thought! Also of interest (IF you look up that engine listing) is the fact that BMW will also have a 135iS model in 2012. Same HP though, at 225Kw or 306 Hp. The 135iS has engine code: N55B3OUO And... if you keep looking up that list you can seee various engines of interests. Dackel Last edited by Dackelone; 11-23-2010 at 10:42 AM.. |

If there is a 451 Hp version and I buy the 340 HP version I will eat my hat.
Especially if the 451 is blue. Would be funny if it was a typo and it was 232 so the US 1M isn't as powerfull. |

isn't the M1 engine suppose to be the basis for the next gen M3? If so, then the upgraded HP would make sense for the next M3

Good find! But I doubt the 451hp will be slated for the 1 ///M, US-variant or not. BMW is creaping into the issues that Porsche has with its Cayman/911 run-in, and we all know how they handle that (de-tune/de-gear/slow the Cayman platform on purpose to not risk cannibalization of their 911 car). There is no way BMW will make the 1 //M an M3 eater, and the 451hp engine would probably outrun the next gen M3 (considering 1- is 400lbs less).
As others have stated, I recon that is this as the basis of the next gen M3.

Wow, a 1-M with that much HP would be insane! I'd like to see it happen.
But I'm not so sure about the 135is. Here's an old thread where someone posted that same data about it: http://webcache.googleusercontent.co...&ct=clnk&gl=us

340 is only ideal if I want to save money. Just slap a tune on a 135i and you'll already make that or more so I'm not buying a 1M if it doesn't make at least 360-370 or is highly tuneable.
