Manhart e82?

Has anyone thought about switching to the M3 engine? According to mahart's website it is possible. Not sure how much it would cost(waiting on an answer), but I'd sure love to do it.

The N54 engine weighs 190Kg and the M3 engine weights 202Kg, so not a big difference.

I was about to say that the N54 only weights 12KG less than the S65.

Ive done the math also and it all fits, the transmission is a tight squeeze and may require the transmission tunnel to be altered.

You have to remember that the M3 is designed on a 3er chassis as is the 1er. So almost everything is perfect

The S65 is part of the 15 year plan with the 135 so ive done my heavy research already

I like a man with a plan.

I'm actually thinking that a big, stupid GM pushrod V8 will be the way to go with my car.

Widebody the car and run a 285 or 295 square setup.

Find an M3 that was smashed in the ass and take the engine, transmission, steering rack, and some other stuff out and transplant into the 1er.

Then before putting in the S65 bore and stroke to Dinan spec, 4.6L and replace all internals.

Then I put a 146i badge on the trunk just to confuse people

How about a //M150i badge then! Why not just skip the M3 v8 and go for the M5's v10!!! I have seen/read some German tuners that put the v10 in a 3er.

Shouldnt be to hard to find one thats not in too bad of shape a few years down the road. Im replacing the internals and boring/stroking so any improperly broken in parts/cylinder scaring wont matter to me at all.

The S85 will mess up the weight balance on the car. If I get way too power hungry ill throw on a blower, the boost whore in me might come creeping back.

Back in 08 someone shoehorned an S85 into a 1er hatch. They had to cut the firewall to make it work properly.

and if I was gonna round id make it a 145i. Not a fan of the up rounding thing that BMW does.

Convo in the future:

Random guy: You have a V8 in there and a 150 badge, you have a Ford 302 in there?

see how it can be bad? I love Ford but I want my BMW engine to be know you know?

The only other way to go would be to get sponsored, but that's unlikely.
