not necissarily. there are people on here that have reported no issues with 255 tires on an 18x9.5 45mm rear rim (depending on tire selection, camber and fender work). i just mean to say that it's unfortunate that you'd have such a wide wheel, but still have to run narrow tires. with the correct offset (see apex ARC-8 wheels), there's room for so much more tire, and no need to roll fenders or mess with the alignment specs.
. I oderd the pilot super sport 255. Those tires dont run wide. Lets see if that helps

It won't be slight.

i expect that it will be slight. keep in mind, i'm running a +50 on the rear with a 255 and I have no rubbing issues. 255 to 265 won't be a dramatic change.

i just want to clarify that 265 on 18x9.5 et45 is not going to happen. i put a 10mm spacer on my apex wheels (18x9.5 et62), making them an effective et52, and my 265/35-18 hankook v12s rub a tiny bit. at 45mm there's just no chance. did you get the wheels yet? if there's any way to get the 50mm offset rear wheel, thats a small (but valuable) step in the right direction, and 265s MAY work with the 50mm wheel.

Hankooks are square shouldered so if you don't have the proper offset (+45 is not high enough in the rear), then you'll have to run a stock size tire (245). This would be fine on a stock width rim, but there's no point to buying a wider rim if you can't also go with a wider tire. Get a higher offset and you can do 255s - but the Hankooks may still occassionally rub. That's easy to fix with a very slight fender roll.

i wish we could just do a sticky in this forum about the rear offset situation with the e82 chassis, but that would never happen. i'm sure that would annoy some of the vendors on here selling wheels that are aggressive (read "marginal") fits.

Having a master list is a good idea, but it would only be useful if everyone reported everything about their set ups. There are just so many variables (between tire brands for example).

well there's already the wheel fitment thread (sticky), which goes into lots of detail about what's been tried, but i meant more of a quick top-level warning that the e82 relies on higher offsets than most BMWs, and that many wheels not designed specifically for the e82 can be problematic. follow it up with some links to explanations of how offsets work, and the aforementioned wheel fitment thread, and voila!

ET45 rears with a 255 will be ok, but with any sort of drop would most likely rub. IMO, ET50's are better and still very aggressive in appearance.

I checked VMR's website and according to their V710's 18"s they DONT offer a 18 x 9.5 (ET 50 Rear).

Fronts aren't an issue as I know V710 18" with 18 x 8.5 (ET 45) fit perfectly.

I want a set of V710's in ET 45 Front & ET 50 Rear, 18" GUNMETAL please!

Check it out: http://www.velocitymotoring.com/wheels_v710.html

If im wrong and VMR does make this perfect 1'er offset, I will be such a happy camper. Oh and please update your website to accommodate for our odd ET 50 rear offset on V710's!

18x9.5 +50 V710's in GM are estimated to arrive about mid August. There are a few fitments that are in the works that we have not yet added onto our website, we apologize for the confusion.
