Is this normal/OK?

I found this black smudge on my front driver side wheel after a couple laps around the ring but I have no clue what it was so I took a picture to see if you guys have any ideas?

Didn't smell like oil, actually didn't really have a smell. It was almost like grease but I looked around and didn't really see where it could come from!

Dirty, yes. It rained a lot while I was there. But that was not dirt (I don't think) because it was caked on there and greasy. I was thinking maybe this happens on new cars or something? Of course I could just be worried for nothing.

Its some anti-seize from the wheel hubs. You need some anti seize there - so you can remove your wheels from time to time. It goes where the wheels bolt up to the hub/flange.

Use some good wheel gel cleaner like PS21 and you will be fine.

Its either that, or just brake dust, as you stated it was rainy, most times if you are driving the car hard, and in wet conditions before or after, the brake dust becomes greasy...

It's normal with a new car. Mine had it after the track day at Road Atlanta. When I put the stock pads back on I noticed some of that anti-seize lube inside the wheel as well. If it continues or gets worse I'd have the dealer look at the inner caliper boots. My Z4 M Coupe had a defective caliper boot and the dealer had to do a simple rebuild (under warranty) to fix it. High heat and/or the boot didn't seat during assembly but it's nothing to worry about.
It's great to see a dirty 1M. There's been waaaaay too many pics of perfectly clean ones!

That looks like the tell-tale sign of a flux capacitor on its way out, get to the dealer asap buddy.

Haha thanks y'all that makes sense, especially the flux capacitor part. No I kind of remember seeing that on a couple other new cars but I wasn't sure. Yeah Dan my car was not clean when I dropped it off at the shipping office. I felt kind of bad about it but I wasn't about to run it through one of the brush car washes and I didn't really have a spigot to clean it at the hotel. Oh well I hope it doesn't stary dirty ALL the way back to Houston. I assume the dealership will clean it before they hand it over though.

You know they let you keep one key. It is on my nightstand and a couple times I've grabbed it on my way out the door only to realize it's not the right key... The wait to take delivery the first time was tough, but now that I've driven it and have confirmed how amazing the car is, it's even tougher than before!

Happy friday.
