I think its because this was part of BMW's proposed baby M car before BMW AG killed that idea when the 1er was being designed around 2000. Then they made that "Tii" Concept and a lot of those parts became "Performance Parts". Then in 2009ish the guys at M started to have a go at a real baby M on their off hours to surprise Dr Kay Segler with.

Think it was Dackelone who said they might not be producing E8x/E9x Performance parts anymore soon. However, this year they started producing 135i Performance exhausts with new exhaust tips so who knows how it is.
I know the Performance Short Shift Kit(SSK) has been discontinued.

I had posted that it would not surprise me to find BMW discontinuing "other" Performance parts as time goes on.

No worries! I've used Tischer/getbmwparts for a few years now.

Reflashed my TCU again... from Alpina B3 to US Sport (ZF 7601494). Did not have a chance to test it much but confirmed the D mode is back to "normal" and S mode still shows corresponding gear (S1, S2 etc.).

Man.
My front bumper's a little chewed from the previous owner. That looks like a pretty good deal.
But then I'll want the side skirts.
Which work better with the rear bumper.
Plus the front bumper requires the new cold air ducts.
If I'm doing that, I may as well get the Performance Cooling Kit, and PPK2. (PE is a given.)
Oops. $600 for a bumper or $3000 for a redesign?
Oh yeah, plus paint.
Quite the rabbit hole, but how sweet it would be at the end...

Paid the $15 duty/custom/tax fee for importing my Schiedmann LCI Blackline tail lights.

Did not know I was going to be hit with that.

New rear A/S 3's and alignment. Backs were bald (only in the center which the guy said was typical) at 13K miles. Fronts look pretty good, prob will get 20K out of them.

If I remember correctly, excessive center wear indicates tire pressure too high.

Depending on driving style, it's totally normal for a RWD BMW which is aligned within factory specs to go through a set of rear tires in 13k, depending on driving style. What's not normal is the wear that is concentrated in the center. dtla1 is correct when he says it is conventionally caused my over inflation.

I've worn through countless sets of tires on several BMWs with fresh RTABs and alignments. The wear is always concentrated on the inner shoulders, which makes sense given the negative camber BMW calls for in their alignment spec.

I drove it to the mall to pick up my PS4 Darth Vader bundle. I have been waiting for the SW Battlefront II successor to come out for ten years, and now I have it.

In my absolute excitement, I fully disabled the traction control and peeled out of the parking lot. Literally raced around the mall (great circuit!) and got home in record breaking time!

This car was built for that exact moment in my life!

Half of the reason why I am trying to get a good square set-up going is so I can test Michelin's 30k Mile warranty on their Pilot Super Sports, although, I have yet to read the fine print. I'm sure they have something in there about needing to be the oem tire size, or within oem alignment specifications, or to be professionally rotated. All of these things which would deem my warranty claim invalid.

Michelin is pretty good with their warranty. You would get a pro rated credit towards it as long as you have good documentation (alignment, tire rotations, etc.) I had a tire bubble and I didn't have hazard protection on it and they still covered it for free. I filed a couple claims with them and they always took care of me.

Most treadwear warranties are void if the manufacturer's alignment specs call for negative camber, and naturally every BMW has negative camber.

A square setup is definitely enticing, thanks to the ability to rotate all four tires as opposed to just flipping the rears, which requires a shop. Either way, I've never had a set of summer tires last beyond 15k on the back of any of my BMWs.

America's Tire/Michelin replaced my rears at ~18,775 miles with a $117 credit. Non-standard widths (215 F) and custom alignment (-2.3F/_1.93R)

Worth it!

Got the 2016 map updates from Baccus loaded and had them code my car to turn off the seat belt chime, roll windows down\up with the remote, etc. Had the DMTL pump replaced last week, too.

Rear seat delete! Done... 5 min work and it saves around 55-60 pounds give or take. Great option for track days and it's easily reversible for daily use.
