Ok "IS" boys... it official, my IS has gone Donkey Kong. Dinan Stage 3: 373 horsepower & 408 lb-ft of torque and let me tell you something... it is everything I had hoped for. Sweet, smooth, elegant, wicked fast and fun fun fun. The 91 extra lbs of torque is unbelievable. In your seat every time.

All of our intoxicating burbly, grumbly exhaust notes that we so love on our 135is's BMW PE are still there. It even grumbles and pops snappier and harder. The car runs cooler, even in NYC rush hour traffic. Throttle response is extremely quick, perhaps with the cooler charged air from the FMIC that is like twice the size of the OEM. My fun gear use to be 3rd & 4th but is now also 5th and 6th. The RPM's simply spool up to red line way fast in any gear. You really have to be careful. Thank the BMW Gods I have a DCT, I probably would have broke something if I didn't. I also had the rubber bushings in the front thrust arms replaced with precision delrin ball joints that comes with machined aluminum housing and I must say, all that suspension shimmy and slop are gone.

I've only had 2 hours seat time but will give you a more detailed report when I drive more. I was seriously driving back to work today with a smile from ear to ear.

I say JUST DO IT! You will not regret it. No issues, no funny codes, no blowing up this or that. Just start and go. Truly... IMO, performance without sacrifice.
dude, I saw your car the other day going up 3rd Ave near 41st St - or should I say heard it... I couldn't believe my ears. I am now in the market for a 135is.

For anyone wondering, it sounds absolutely insane.

anyone know how easy it is to pick one of these up off lease?

Hahaha this made my morning. Don't forget to put the PPK sticker on the air filter box.

We're actually thinking of a X1 as our second more family oriented car, but havent driven one yet. Or we could wait a year or so and have a palette of X[1 through 15] cars to choose from...

Dude I'll still buy your rim, mine + cash. It'll come with PSS too so it'll be a straight swap lol. Mine is like 9.5/10 but I'm just so anal when it comes to this car! THINK ABOUT IT!!!!

There are actually quite a few around, some still new and heavily discounted at dealers, and a few low mileage CPO'd ones as well. Check the bmwusa site for CPO'd 135is's. I think there were 8 as of a day or two ago, though half of those are convertibles, but several are manuals and on the east coast.

Also, someone on the forum is selling theirs I know, but it's in Colorado.

I'd be curious to hear your thoughts on the X1. If you get the X1 whatever drive 35 with the M sport package, you get the much beefier front bumper and essentially our exact sport seats, and steering wheel. Put a PPK on there and voila, station wagon/lil SUV version of our car. Wonder if they sell a PE for it.

I'll report back on the X1 when we get a chance to stroll it around. I'd love a loaded one with the 35 motor but chances are won't be getting that only for the dollar factor. Now, if we can get it with a PE, that could change things

Speaking of PEs, I've noticed mine seems grumpier with warmer weather, it likes to gurgle and pop a lot more on slow downs, which is just fantastic.

Hmm, I swear mine was sounding quieter the other day, wonder if it was perhaps cause it was cooler and we've had an unusually warm (and dry) winter/spring.

I just looked and don't think they sell a PE for the X1, though I wonder if it's possible to modify ours for it? Those darn X1s can be had for $30k, but can also get up to $50k. If you can find one of the rare m sport ones though, you'll at least feel at home behind our beefy steering wheel or I suppose you could just put it on after the fact if you don't want to spend the money.

Black Lines

Installed my new Black Line tail lights today. Thanks to gregthegr8 for sending me the link to Dack's DIY thread from a while back. Saved me some time searching around for it.

It's hard to tell a big difference in the pics I took, but in person, the difference is pretty significant. The install took me about 30 minutes, but now that I've done it once, it would be much quicker the next time around.

Before the Black Lines:

Black Line on the left and stock on the right:

Black Lines on both:

Black Line close-up:

Man, those look awesome and go so well with the black. You can come install a set for me then. =) I think even in those pics, the difference is pretty significant and the non-blacklines just look like a giant sea of red when they aren't on.

Thanks! It's a subtle difference, but has a big impact on the black car, imo. And like I said, it looks better in person.

I've been contemplating a set for far too long and almost got a few months ago when they went on sale cause I'm a paranoid klutz. I enjoyed persuading owen2001 to be my guinea pig though. =) Now if I can convince him to fly to Los Angeles and install them. I suppose driving here is just the same. Or split the difference, install them for me in Nevada!

I'll send an email over to Phil at ECS and see if they have any interest. I'll let you know if/when I hear back.
