There is also cans that deliver excellent passive sound cancelling. The aforementioned Beyerdynamic stands out here. They started in aviation headphones and the design carried over with heavy levels of external sound deadening on a number of their closed ear models. On my MMX300s and DT770s you could be running a chainsaw in the room and I wouldn't know when listening.

Can't wait, excited to join the club! Still can't decide if headers are in the picture, it's really now or never. It blows my mind that Beats By Dre are simply normal headphones with a preset equalizer built in.. nothing more. Same for most other applications like Beats in Chryslers and HTC(?) phones. I'd argue it's good marketing, because 99% of people don't know better... |

Noise cancelling head phones shouldn't be making any sound they're not cancelling, but: "You can also see that at the very lowest frequencies some of the noise cancellers actually showed some gain — in other words, at the very lowest frequencies, some noise cancelling headphones made the outside noise louder, not quieter." http://www.headphone.com/rightbetweenyourears/?p=723 Wouldn't explain your high frequency woes, but it could be related.

I never really took the time to figure out what I was hearing, instead I just went with passive protection.

Back on topic, we have a few more members with DISA manifolds as of this week. I'm happy to see it spreading across the user base and finally unlocking the power we should have had stock.

Im starting to think that we should create a sticky of this. Like have all the details upfront like parts to order and other necessary bolts (etc etc etc), this mod is starting to become a bit more popular (and from what I have seen well worth the money). Plus it would be kinda cool to have ALL the information in a single thread

My initial impression wasn't so much, "Wow this is great, what a difference!" More like, "Whyyyy, BMW??" The car is simply more usable and livable now. Midrange is a peach and I love the fact that I no longer have to bury my pedal to the ground every time I take off. Have I mentioned the sound yet? Holy tits my PE... I need to find a decent mic for my gopro ASAP. You guys won't believe what I'm hearing... |

Carparts.com. It's hit or miss, but if you're patient and persistent, you should find a good deal on a used part. If you're less patient, you can buy a kit using new parts from Turner or Tischer. It's all in this thread, several times over in fact.

I used car-part as well. mine was $280 shipped for both the manifold and both DISA motors, and they surprisingly included a vent hose that is still usable. I reused my stocker since the foam on it wasnt torn at all like on the one that came with the manifold.
