I don't know about Dan reporting a .75 inch drop in the front and .5 inch drop in the rear. BMW says "10 mm", which is .393701 inches - less than 1/2 an inch. I think it's more like that. I didn't measure before and after but I really don't care about that too much. I didn't want a lowrider. If I did I would've went with some other suspension. The car still has a little "rake" to it, which I like. I don't think I would go so far as to say it's "Phenomenal" either, but it does drive better. More composed over bumps and steering is improved. Definitely an improvement. Would I do it again? Yes - it's just what I wanted! Last edited by Esteban; 07-01-2014 at 01:42 PM.. |

So, I'm getting another car...
Don't panic everyone, its just that I need a car I can put the dogs in, as its not exactly fair to make my fiancee cart them around all the time. The good news is that I'm KEEPING the 135is. Barring any snags, I'm buying a 2002 Subaru WRX wagon from a friend of mine. Its not in great cosmetic shape, which is exactly what I want. Should be a fun car that I can thrash around without worrying about the seats or the paint etc. This got me thinking though, if I'm going to have another car I can DD, why not make my second car something REALLY special...I came across this on craigslist today: http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/ctd/4517354465.html Its overpriced by 8k or so in my opinion, but wow, what a fantastic (and rare) car. Its got me seriously considering selling the 1er if I could get them to agree to a more reasonable price. Odds are it won't happen, but I had to share the listing with you guys, that is a really special car right there.

Yes, beautiful car. The Tourings are rare and that is Inka Orange. It may be exactly as represented, but I'd approach with caution. I've heard some very mixed stories about this dealership group (several locations). Just be sure to do your homework. Also, you may want to google the VIN to see if the private owner's listing comes up -- and see what PO was asking for it before the dealer acquired it (unless traded in). Would be fun to have.

Well, since everyone seems to be leaving us for the lure of the exotic, rare orange car, I am following suit. I just found this gem:

M sorry just thought I'd remind you of the elephant in the room!!! :P so my holy grail of BMWs were 2 cars. The 1M and the 2002 Turbo. Hilariously enough I almost bought a 2002 Turbo in Alaska a few years ago until I recruited a friend of mine to go take a look at it and it turned out to be a FAKE! lol. full story here: http://www.automobiliac.com/automobi...ere-first.html |

I just consider this good etiquette among drivers of any nice car! Don't want some jackass adding a door ding. I've already had to have one fixed this year. And I always park away from everyone else and walk. Why people have to park right next to me when there are plenty of closer spots, and empty spots all around me, I will never ever understand. Of course they do. I have a buddy who does that crap when he sees a car parked all by itself.

Always gotta love when people are such great drivers, they park with their wheels turned all the way.
There's a black Hummer H2 at work that not only has cut me off twice to make an illegal left turn at a light that says no left turn, but then parks his hummer in a compact space, usually over into the space next to him. I'm tempted to leave a nice note on his car one day that says something to the effect of - hey asshole, 1) learn how to drive, 2) learn how to park, and 3) a hummer is not a compact car. |

Performance Suspension Going on Wednesday!
Fun update for everyone, or at least those who care:
My new wheel locks have arrived, so that'll be taken care of today or tomorrow and then it looks like I'll have the performance suspension put on next Wednesday at HP Autowerks in Santa Barbara. Should be a fun 100 mile drive home on the new suspension and then a few days later I'll be getting an alignment and oil change at the dealer. I feel like a kid at christmas! If there are any measurements or pictures anyone wants me to take beforehand, let me know. I'm going to try take some shots measuring the wheel gap and fender height, etc. and then take afters of my car parked in the same spot to do side by side photo comparisons and measurements. |
