When you're accelerating, you can actually hear the turbos spooling up--very cool. And like others have said, when you're not punching it, you can totally drive "normally" as your daily driver, I certainly do

For others who've installed the AP Stage 1--how do you guys launch appropriately? I'm always spinning my wheels initially (I'm a rookie )

Anyway, the ease of installation and flexibility make the Cobb AP worth the $$$ IMO. For a casual enthusiast such as myself who didn't want to mess with the engine bay, this was the perfect purchase. Anyone out there on the fence should just do it! I promise you won't utilize that 30 day money back guarantee

Nice! I bet it transformed your Evo into a monster too hehe. And I hear you about being anxious to install the AP. I was so impatient that I ordered it "next day air" online and since it required a signature and they delivered at 10:00am last Friday while I was at work, they almost waited until Monday for a second attempt! My advice to people out there ordering it online is to make special arrangements ahead of time if you know nobody is going to be there to sign for it.

Be sure to let us know how it goes! COBB FTW! I'm excited about the new maps coming out at the end of this month

I completely agree with this. I just installed it too and the acceleration is unbelievable in every gear! I can't believe the pull in 6th gear from 80 mph. It's ridiculously fast. My biggest complaint with the car before installing the Cobb map was the decrease in pull above 5,000 rpm. This decrease in pull is gone with the Cobb map!

I also ordered it from Cobb and their shipping was very fast. UPS however screwed it up and delayed it an extra day and made me drive an hour TWICE to pick it up!

The only complaint I have is that cruise control is not working. (I have an '09 manual transmission.)

I will not be returning the access port.

i agree, the tune to me is the must have mod for your car. it will for the money transform it more than any other mod.

the cobb is easy, but pricey compared to the piggybacks, and cobb power gains are nearly as good. I switched from jb3 to cobb because i had become an expert at install and uninstall as my car was making trips to dealer every 2k miles or so for fuel pump, injectors, brake light, routine service, software updates, etc.

the convenience of the cobb is worth it to me...and i assume the tuning abilities of the flash will surpass the piggybacks for power in the next 6-12 mo.

Ditto!! There's really no point in using the other gears--the car pulls in 6th like it used to in 4th...very versatile gear now--you can cruise or accelerate whenever you need to pass someone--all in one gear!

Just curious, i dont have the AP yet, however I am also thinking about some catless DP's. Will installing the AP unit with the DP's in mind keep the CEL from occuring or will I still need some kind of fix for that? Also, what do you catless guys do about emissions inspections every year??

As of right now you need a dp fix, down the road it will be built in to delete it automatically.

Built into the AP?
So that means that every startup you need to delete or after installing, it deletes it automatically?
And how long down the road are we talkin for this?

Yes built into the AP, You can delete the code right now, but it will just come back, unless you install a dp fix. I don't know how far down the road is but I hope its the by the end of the month.

guys, i am currently running the cobb ap. i have catless dp's, and obviously am throwing a ses code on every start. are you claiming by the end of the month we can have this code automatically not come up by programming the ap that we have catless dp's?

also, what is the timeframe for stage 2. I have not read a clear and definitive answer from cobb.

thx guys.

Damn, I didn't know there were this many people running catless DPs on stage 1. I may just install mine now and not wait for stage 2.

The CEL fix isn't going to be easy. I don't imagine it's that high on Cobb's priority list. Just deal with the light being on, it's not harming anything. All the other platforms deal with it until Cobb eventually gets to it but no one really cares that much about it.

The problem with it is no its not hurting anything but people who live in NY and other states, your car will not pass inspection with a light on.

Typically for stage2 calibrations we will turn that code off in the ECU as we have done with the other vehicles we support. I am not sure where we are on this with the BMWs, but it will probably be included with the standard stage2 maps. Just like the rest of the AccessPORT function it is seemless. Typically, this does not effect emissions from a scanning standpoint, however, the AccessPORT can't make you pass a visual inspection yet, we haven't perfected the stock exhaust hologram feature yet!

Tune for Australia

I'm hoping someone from Cobb can offer advice here.

Given that there isn't a tune available for Australia, I called a local dealer of Cobb to ask what they might be able to do. They quoted $2000 - $2500, for a custom tune.

Does this make sense in terms of getting a generic Cobb unit, and working from there.

I have no idea how much (if any) experience they have with the N54. That's something I'd also look into, if we can establish that their approach is logical.

Cheers.
