Hey guys, assuming I get the offer I want today, what forms do I need to sign when I go in to the dealership? Oh, I'm doing ED so are there going to be more forms?

Okay, I got responses back from 3 out of the 5 dealers I emailed. They all accepted my offer of $900 over invoice, but they all said they need to add anywhere from $299-$399 for D/H. Is there any way to get these fees waived?

Not sure. I ended up with doc. fee + title etc. to the tune of 295.00 + 75.00 registration.

My modified "payne" method is ready to go...

Modified? You ask?

Well, there are 23 2008 BMW M3 Sedans within 350 miles of me. All with manual transmissions, mostly silver exterior, red interior. Couple of blues's, couple of black's, couple of whites, couple of "unknown's". Mostly loaded the same.

At 16 different dealership's. BMW has released lots of "trunk money" on remaining 2008 M3's, I've already been quoted $7,000 off MSRP. The "catch" or "modification" is that I MUST trade in my ZHP. So basically, I'm sending out tomorrow morning the first 6 (for 7 cars), giving general information for the trade. Asking that they "ball-park" trade value, and then we'll move onto MSRP negotiation. We'll see what happens.

Dramatically reduced MSRP along with a low MF makes for great lease rates. I was quoted $664/mo without trade on the same car mentioned above, $714/mo with TN taxes.

Honestly, I don't see it happening, but I'm going to try. Various internet websites come up with a median trade value of $15,500. The same dealership I've mentioned, "ball-parked" $9,-$10 for trade. CarMax offered $12,500. I'll owe somewhere around $16,750 tomorrow. I still may go through with the deal and roll the negative equity into the lease...

Waiting sucks...

Maybe its not meant to be.

I only sent to 6 this morning, I'll start printing up the next 5 at 2pm to send tomorrow morning.

If it happens, I need to be in the car on Saturday. I'm going out of town next week for the holidays :iono:

delayed gratification is a virtue, though i don't know if that applies considering your current ride which is some people's dreamcar. Imagine the crap rental from Enterprise I have to drive until I get my 128 - a bare bones Chevy Malibu - and you should feel a little better. The thing doesn't even have a key fob, I have to manually unlock the doors! It is really embarrassing.

BTW, in the same spirit as the OP, I found this website which is pretty much the same as the 'Payne' method.

1 called

haha

Out of 6 that I faxed today, I'll fax 5 more tomorrow. He wanted to get more information on my trade. Of the 6 I faxed, that dealership was one of the ones I wanted to talk too because on their website they already showed $6,000 off MSRP. So maybe they will deal. He said he wasn't sure he would get back with me today, but by tomorrow morning for sure.

Next 5 are printed and ready to go. Out of these 5, one dealership has 4, two others have 2, so 5 faxes for 10 cars tomorrow, 6 for 7 today. Hopefully I'll have more phone calls tomorrow. If not, 5 more go out Thursday, one of which I've already talked too briefly...

I'm still not sure that I want to afford it, I can, but I dunno if I want too or I should. Scary economic times, great time to be a buyer though...

2nd called yesterday evening...

Either car (he has two) for invoice and trade at 9,000.

Deal I'm working on now is $500 under invoice and $10,000 for trade. I'm trying to get him up to $12710 on trade. Then I'll roll $4,000 negative equity into the lease. Sure, I could pay it out of pocket, but over the 36 months, it will only cost me $311 to use their $4,000 and keep mine in the bank...

I just faxed back my response, we'll see how it goes.

Talk about NO sleep last night...

Can someone explain this to me. I know the car and price I want on it. Im picking it up via ED. I plan to use an outside bank to finance since I was quoted 3.85% (not locked in yet). NO trade in.
I do not plan to pick it up untill this April, but I would like to order it next month.

My question is... When I walk into the dealer with my passport for paperwork ect. and we agree on a price. Should I also walk in there pre-approved for a loan. Or do I worry about paying for it when it gets closer to april when I leave?? I have read about putting 1k down. Does this apply to ED as well?

it would be better if you are pre approved, than you can for sure make the deal because you wont be thinking well i can make the deal but it is contingent on me getting xxx% rate from my independent bank. THis is how everyone in my family buys cars, although i was lucky enough to pay cash for my 135!

Question about sales tax: do I pay the sales tax of the state that the dealership who accepts my offer is located in?

From what my CA said.. Yes, the tax rate is derived from the state the car is purchased.

so would it be a smart idea to buy in Delaware (2.75%) vs. Pennsylvania (6%)?

I would think that would really hurt dealerships near neighboring states with lower tax rates...

I was told they could do it in either the state you reside or where the dealership is located.

Thats $27.50 per grand vrs. $60.. On a 40K car you would save $1300 if you purchased it in Delaware. Please just stay away from Wilmington Delaware. "A place to be somebody"
