I should have gone with the 18" wheels on my M4, since I am going to change out the wheels, anyhjow, I could have use4d the 18's with a good R-comp tire for track days.
Plus, the 18's actually look pretty good. Ah well. |

Journal Entry 005: Cars & Coffee
Journal Entry 005: Cars & Coffee: Irvine Special thanks jc05e46m3 for arranging some M4s to show up at Cars & Coffee in Irvine. Cars and Coffee attracts the elite of the elite when it comes to cars. Supercars, exotics and some rare muscle (both old and new) which all come out for a short amount of time in the wee hours of the morning. Unfortunately, a new rule not allowing 4-door vehicles turned away a couple of M3s and M5 from displaying. Weird. The "M Row" drew a rather large crowd most of the morning, so pictures were a bit tough to get: M4s are jc05e46m3, EAS and Jaguar's. Not sure who the Mineral Grey was parked a couple of spots down. Otherwise, a good turnout and great catching up with old friends and meeting some new ones.

wonder how many people thought it was an M4.. quick glance it would be easy to make that mistake. I want to see them side by side in person to see other than the air dam, power dome and the air outlet, how different they really look.

Journal Entry 006: Autologic Developmental Program - Vehicle Scanning/Backup
Journal Entry 006: Autologic Developmental Program - Vehicle Scaning/Backup One of the tools used here on a daily basis is the autologic diagnostic scanner/programmer. This tool is a dealer-equivalent for independent shops to perform diagnostics, component tests and module programming/updates. Pretty much the dealer equivalent when it comes to diagnostic tools - and more. Based in Weatley, Oxfordshire, UK, the autologic diagnostic tool for BMW vehicles is without doubt the most comprehensive tool to be made available to independent BMW specialists. Autologic BMW is unique in offering full fault code read and reset, full component activation, electronic control unit procedures, clearing and setting of adaptation values, full coverage of (ECU) control units coding, full programming capability including engine control modules and transmission control modules, adjustment of engine idle, real-time reading of all dynamic data, procedure for engine and immobilizer alignment, procedure for trial substitution of control units and procedure for the fitting of BMW accessories. Car/Key Memory Function for personalizing vehicles. More info: http://autologic.us/en/pages/homepro...mw-diagnostics Datasheet (PDF): http://autologic.us/media/uploads/pd...en_pf_v3.0.pdf We have been involved in the autologic program since the beginning and contribute when possible which helps add in new features and/or diagnostic tools in the near future. Not cheap, but proper tools are essential when used on a day-to-day basis. The M4 has not been included yet in the autologic lineup, so a data read of all various modules in the vehicle is backed up and sent to autologic for evaluation, which aids in future development on the platform.

gotta say, there's no mistaking the YMB and AY cars as something special. nice lineup
gray is nice looking but like black, white, silver, a bit generic compared to the others.

Journal Entry 007: Springs & Spacers Since coilovers are still weeks away, we decided rid of the fender gap by temporarily installing a set of H&R springs. This allows for a quick, simple install and keeps M-Adaptive system error free. Taking reference from our M4 H&R Spring install thread, front drop is the same among the springs kits, where most of the gap is present. Front drop is identical (1.0") among the H&R sets, with approximately ~1/4" difference in rear height between 435 vs M3/M4. Ride feel is identical between the kits, in all modes. Being on the conservative side, we decided on the 435 would be the ticket in the meantime. H&R Spring Weights Weights were compared of stock springs vs H&R and found to be the identical, nothing lost or gained in this area. Macht Schnell Competition Wheel Spacers As with most BMWs, the wheels can use some spacing to mate flush with the fenders. Taking reference from the Macht Schnell wheel spacer reference thread, we used Macht Schnell Competition Wheel spacers to allow the wheels to sit flush the fenders for that aggressive appearance. Longer lugs are included with the kits for the complete "everything included" package. Thus, 15mm spacers were installed up front, with 12mm rounding out the rear. Items Installed H&R - Sport Lowering Springs (435i) Macht Schnell Competition Wheel Spacer Kit - 12mm Macht Schnell - Competition Wheel Spacer Kit - 12mm Installation Completed More to come..
