Custom m stripped AW 1m coupe
Had a little "spare time" on my hands today so I figured it would be perfect to finally put some m stripes on the coupe.....I wanted to capture that old school retro look from the late 80's , early 90's....I think it came out real good......
want to see how everyone else feels about them.... Please excuse the poor picture taking and staging....didn't have time to drive to a nice location.... |

To each their own but stripes don't quite suit the understated style of the 1M and what it represents. The wider stance, more aggressive front end are enough to differentiate this car from standard 1 series with just a quick glance. The stripes are over the top but if you like them thats all that matters.
The side stripes aren't so terrible but the line running across the trunk and the strips on the front splitters need to go, just my $0.02 |

I have to agree, I don't like stripes on a 1M.... who's car is this, looks like it's at a dealer/shop, your detail says you drive a VO 1M??

Admittedly, I'm a sucker for AW and M stripes
Like this one for being subtle, though imo the rear (lower bumper) still needs a touch up. did you order it custom or available product (which/where?) |

If I had the 1M not sure I would mess with it..........having said that, I like the hood/side stripe OK, but find the trunk one a bit "busy" back there with the other stuff on the trunk.
Just my 2c.

Thought I'd get a little more of a response on the stripes but I guess not......
The one cool thing about them is that their original BMW M-TECHNIC stripes from about 20 years ago!! I remember these being put on E30 M3's in the early '90s..... I thought with all the comparisons being made between the 2 it would be a natural fit... Their made by 3m and they seem to be very good quality.....It took about an hour and a half to put them on..... I kind of agree that the trunk stripe looks a little to busy but the more I stare at it the more it's starting to grow on me.... Somebody posted that the stripes look better in person and there 100% right...the pictures don't do them any justice..... Please keep the comments coming....positive or negative...... As for the person who posted that "if" he owned a 1M he "wouldn't mess" with it... get real......it's a stripe.....lol.....and I was told by installing them I would gain at least 10hp.....without having to press the m button either.... |

As others have said-- different strokes for different folks. I also think your stripes are a little "too much"... but then I do like some stripping, and have put these on mine--- but probably most people will think that what I did is too "old school" [note my forum name !]
............. anyway, we all are still enjoying the hell out of our cars-- I did VIR last week and it was a blast! |

Ok, I normally hate when people make grammar error corrections in threads, but people keep saying stripped, stripping, etc. instead of striped, striping.....I got a wallet full of singles and I'm about to hit the strip club to watch some girls stripping down to nothing thanks to you guys....

If you did it yourself how did you find the line to work to? I've struggled finding a line because there isn't a sharp definition above, below or along the rounded crease on the panels. |

I just followed about 1/4 in. below that rounded crease. I have found out that the secret is to attach it in "arm's length" [or longer] lengths, and attach it very "lightly" at first. That way you can remove it for corrections, and using long sections helps keep the lines straight looking. After it is on like you want, then go over it with some pressure.

Fuck, I thought this would be a stripped race car - instead I got this.
I don't like it. I think the stripe moves all the attention to far up on the body.
