Ok guys...I think I've made my decision... e90 330i. I have found multiple cars with <5k miles that are practically brand new. I wont have the V8 power but I think I will be rewarded by a prefectly balanced car with decent power. maybe in a year or so I will trade in for a 135 or 335. Do you think this is a smart choice? Those with 330i's, are they still thrilling? With all this 335i talk it makes the 330i seem so inferior, will i still enjoy it? Thanks guys.

if you're just going to dump it in a year, you may want to consider getting a crummy little commuter as that 1 year (in the car that's not what you want anyways) is going to cost alot, compared to a little commuter

Yeah buying a practically new car and dumping it in a year isn't very practical. Unless you're going to keep your car for at least three years, you might consider leasing. Besides, you don't want to buy a car and not be satisfied with it, always thinking when you're driving it, "I wish I could be driving a 335!"

I know I will be thinking that..but the issue is I don't think I will be able to afford a 335i! Do you think I would be able to find a 335i with some options (prem, sport, htd seats) in the 37k range? If so I would pounce on it. But living in DC I really won't be able to use all of its power anyways.

Also, If I can get a 330i pretty loaded up with 2-3k miles on it for 35k, how much more can it depreciate in a single year? I won't drive it more than 10k in a year for sure.

I will most likely buy used and so far have thought of a few options. I don't know if there is a new car offered that fits the criteria I'm looking for. Right now I'm leaning towards the S4 and 545i....I just love the V8 noises and torque. I'll post my initial options below but feel free to offer any other suggestions!

'05 Audi S4 (15-25k miles)
'04 545i (25-35k miles)
'05 CLK500 (15-25k miles)
'06 Lexus IS 350 (<15k miles)
'06 Jeep SRT8 (<10k miles)
'06 330i (<15k miles)

Cars that I know I don't like are G35, evo, sti, or anything american (besides jeep).

So guys, Which would you choose!!!

ps. If it helps I will be taking this car to college and it might get dinged up slightly (living in DC) and nav. is a must. THANKS!!

e46 m3 hands down. Nothing else on this list will age as gracefully as that design.

My overall choice for ya would be between the IS and The Jeep.
Good Luck!
Dont get an IS350 if you are looking for performance, yet you offer up a Jeep SUV? I dont understand. The IS350 is not far from a 335 in performance, and unarguably more capable on a track than a 330, especially if he gets the sports suspension.

There are several factors to look at when buying a car. Its hard for us to give you suggestions without knowing what you value. How long will you keep the car? Do you care about resale of your $35,000 "investment"? If you car about resale, I wouldn't get a Jeep or an Audi. You might look into the E46 M3, but it to get one for 35K, it might be getting close to the end of its warranty. That being said, I'd probably opt for the 330 or the IS.
