What about Canada eh? There are a few of us tearing up some of the nicest tracks around!
Tracks: Calabogie Motorsports Park, Le Circuit Mont-Tremblant, Mosport, Shannonville Calabogie Motorsport Park, my home track is getting known as "VIR North" and is very technical with its many blind and decreasing radius corners Le Circuit Mont-Tremblant is an ex Formula 1 track and features a roller coaster ride thru corner 1-2-3 and fast back straight speeds. Mosport, an ex Formula 1 track that features a "big balls" blind, over crest, downhill flat out corner that separates the boys from the men. It is a horsepower track where the entire backstraight climbs. Great elevation changes, track recently aquired by well known Canadian racer Ron Fellows and is in the process of being completly upgraded! ALMS hosts a round there. Shannonville Motorsport Park, flat medium speed road course, rougher pavement and a bit bumpier that makes it excellent for shock development and driver development: Username: simplyfast Driver name: Maxime Vadeboncoeur 09 135i - Berk's Technology Backed Tires: 255f/275r Dunlop Star Specs Mods: Tires, Wheels, Front BBK, Motons, Sways, full bolt on's I'll update with laptimes.

See Signature. Can we get a Moderator to come in here and update our "lap times board"?
"Mods": - 225/255 Star Specs - N55 MPs - Camber pins pulled (-0.3*F) - Ti Brake Shims + Motul RBF600 + EBC Yellowstuff front pads/OEM rear pads Really need to move to better pads all around. My 2014 Racing Season is going to feature more brake and more tire.

I know we're only supposed to mention our own members' laptimes... but for reference (professional driver) Randy Pobst ran a 1:46 at Laguna Seca in a N54 135i (w/stock RFTs).

I did a track day at Infineon with my 135i a year ago and the best lap was a 2:12:12. Except for a Dinan Stg 2 tune on the N55 motor it is stock. I was surprised I was not a tad quicker with 355hp (according to Dinan), great brakes, etc. With my 1957 Alfa Sprint Veloce, which I run from time to time in vintage events, with 105hp, original drum brakes, and skinny bias ply tires my times are only five seconds slower.

I'll start with a few in the 128i...
Lime Rock Park (extremely wet...downpour) 1:07.486 Lime Rock Park (green track...rain the day before) 1:00.304 Barber (extremely green track...heavy rain the day before) 1:42.678 Daytona (road course) 2:09.793 I should have the 135i at Harris Hill Road (near Austin) on Sunday, and probably some laps from Texas World Speedway in a few weeks.

I guess I read that wrong it was a 335 mentioned early in this thread. Similar cars so it could be doable in a race prepped 135 if those numbers are accurate. 1:39 is movin though.

The quickest I've been around Laguna Seca was a paltry 1:57 in my old 944S2 (210-ish HP) on 16" Toyo R888s. I can't imagine what nearly 20 seconds faster must be like. I've yet to track my 135i. Karl.

I know, huh! Just think there are a handful of bone stock cars that do sub 1:35's. Can't imagine those with some slicks and track pads.

Track: Sonoma Raceway/Infineon/Sears Point Configuration: Road Course (carousel, no 7a, full turn 11, etc...) Lap Time: 2:11.61 Tires: OEM Dunlop RFTs Same car as Thunderhill post above. Bone stock. DSC fully on (again, a mistake). UPDATE... Username of car owner: 02rsxpilot Track: Sonoma Raceway/Infineon/Sears Point Configuration: Road Course (carousel, no 7a, full turn 11, etc...) Lap Time: 2:03.90 Tires: Dunlop Direzza ZII DSC partially off, plus better tires, plus DTC-70 front brake pads, plus toying with a few different racing lines translated to a nearly 8 second improvement per lap. Apologies for the crappy audio. Experimenting with new external mic and mounting it behind the passenger seat did not work. It would rattle against the plastic seat backing, causing that noise in the video. Last edited by 02rsxpilot; 05-16-2015 at 08:34 PM.. |

Track: Laguna Seca Configuration: There's only one. Lap Time: 1:51.73 Tires: Dunlop Direzza ZIIs 225/255 For kicks, I jumped in my dad's Porsche 997 CS for about 15 minutes at the end of the day and did a 1:52.94. UPDATE: Lap Time: 1:52.23 Tires: Bridgestone RE-760 Sport 225/245 Fairly happy to have gotten within .5 seconds of my previous best on true street tires. I was actually faster through the first half of the track but couldn't match the same speeds from T8-T11 (T9 especially) due to lack of overall grip compared to the ZIIs. M3 control arms (-2.0 camber all around) and RSFB inserts certainly contributed to narrowing the gap though. With a decent track tire (ZIIs/RE-71Rs or stickier), I think the car could go low 1:49 or even push into the 1:48s. Next time at this track I should have dedicated (and lighter) track wheels and stickier tires, so we will find out!

Track: Streets of Willow (CCW) Time: 1.31.5 Mods: - 255 square Hankook - Vorshlag plates on stock springs/dampers (front struts found to be leaking upon inspection) - Hawk DTC70/60 - Stock boost/ JB4 disabled Notes: Took 2.6 seconds off last fastest lap with the 255 Hankooks, Vorshlags to make them fit, and the Hawk pads. Weather was mild but VERY windy. Oil temp gauge sat 280+*F even w/ the heater on full blast. Dampers were leaking on pre-race inspection, but still had sufficient rebound characteristics i.e. slow leak down. Will be replacing with Koni or TCK... IIRC 9/12 Front piston seals were toast before the track day, likely more now, but no fluid leaking, and reservoir level consistent. The RS3 tires run VERY wide, and it seems that in this case, pinching a 255 onto an 8.5" wheel is not an optimal solution. Will try to find a means of fitting an x9" wheel up front in the future...
