Yeah, that's what it looks like. You can remove the two bolts on either side of the bar and pull the bar off the mounting points though.

I've gotta say, I was skeptical about this upgrade, but I figured why not, since the 1M does have an improved strut bar, and there's even a BMW performance strut bar (that I've seen crack before, so there must be at least some movement.)

Well, I've been driving around for a week or two with this Megan bar, and I don't think the car feeling stiffer is a placebo effect. I have M3 front arms, Dinan camber plates, a M3 front sway, and Bilstein B12s up front, and adding the bar really makes the car feel stiff like my old Porsches for the first time. I do get a little NVH, and, when I start the car, there's more of a shudder that I feel in the pedals.

I don't know, I don't think I'm imagining things, so anyone thinking about trying it should probably give it a go, since it is so inexpensive.

On an N55, you obviously have to remove a bolt and lift the arm to access the air filter, but you also need to loosen a couple of screws and move the coolant tank forward a few millimeters to completely remove the coolant cap on the left, which still isn't a huge deal.

Yikes, my engine bay is dirty!

I've been looking at this Ultra Racing strut bar. It is listed for the E82 but i'm worried it won't clear the stock intake. And it covers the oil filler cap.

Also I like the solid mount design, I feel like the pivot points on the the Megan bar (and a lot of other cheaper ones) ruins the point of having one.

Interesting how it's angled. Wonder why they did that.

To position it directly above the oil filler cap.

Yeah, I'm honestly surprised how much I notice the Megan bar. While I'm sure the pivots won't do much for up/down strut tower movements, it seems that it still works for lateral movements, which is the point. Solid bars don't do much for up/down strut movement, anyways.

Can you take a close up of the strut tower with this installed? I want to see if my 1M brace will fit with this under it.

How much of a difference would you say you felt, and how would you characterize the change?

Man, I'm so hesitant to say, because placebo can be in effect, but I do notice more stiffness and a little harshness. I also notice that there's kind of a judder I feel in the pedals when I start the car, which I think is because it's locking things down and somehow transmitting the energy to the footwell.

I'd imagine that anything you'd notice would be less, since you already have the 1M setup, but who knows? I guess triangulating your setup could add more stiffness. If you decide to risk the $90, I'd be curious what you think.

1M brace only reinforces the strut tower and offers access to the adjustment knob on my coilovers. I appreciated no additional lateral rigidity over the stock 135i bracing.

So did you end up seeing if it would fit?

Oh it'll fit the 1M brace no problem.

Not sure if I'm gonna do it though. My engine bay is going to change dramatically within a month or so and need to get head/turbos/intake/engine mounts sorted before adding something on top of all of it that may not clear

I see said the blind man..

Well then best of luck with the build. What kind of turbo are you putting on and how much boost are you planning to run?

M
Went with a custom set of twins and exhaust manifold set up for a ported N53 head with cams. Targeting ~550-600 whp at 14-15 psi

Is there any reason this will create issues on a 128i ?

Thanks. I was thinking of access to the oil fill.
