Great article, the most crucial things that was missed was the valve cover gasket (Normal for any bmw I6), the coils, and the LPFP. I've owned 4 n54s and have had all of what you mentioned as well as what I mentioned fail.

What about the warranty extensions on N54s: Turbos: 8 years or 82K miles HPFP: 10 years or 120K miles BMW recall for the following: Fuel Injectors Battery cable/grounding strap Please correct me if I am off |

I do remember someone dynoing the PE exhaust on a 135i when the cars first came out(N54)... and the PE lost 5hp. Now, I don't think there is a soul around who can tell you they can feel a 5hp loss on a 300 or 400 hp engine! Dack

Fantastic informative thread...if I read it before I bought my 1er I would have known their was some money to be spent to get it perfect...113000km's
Replaced Injectors x 6 (solved idle wonder problem) Replaced Spark plugs (Must as part of misfire issue) Replaced 3 coils (This + plus plugs resolved the rough Idle / Misfire on idling) Thank Guys!!!

Adding some info.
BMW uses a mileage based maintenance schedule. The car tracks it and you can check what due next using the scroll toggle button on the turn signal stalk - w/ the car on but not moving press BC on turn signal stalk, CHECK shows up, use toggle to scroll through when services are next due. Also menu there for personal settings (locks, turn signal 3x, etc.) Maintenance Schedule [not official BMW but recommended preventative maintenance - user preference] Oil change: 5-6k mi. Oil 0w-40 or 5w-40 (LL-01 BMW spec.) Air filter: 2 yrs / 24k mi. Brake fluid: 2 yrs / 24k mi. Power steering fluid: 2-3 yrs / 30k mi Coolant flush: 3 yrs / 36k mi. Cabin air filter: 4 yrs / 45k mi. Differential: 45-50k mi. Trans. flush/fill: 50-60k mi. Water pump, tstat, rad. cap: 5 yrs / 60k Spark plugs: ** n55 @ 60k; ** n54 or n55 w/ PPK @ 45k mi.; ** n52/n51 @ 80k? Fuel filter: 60k-80k (in fuel tank) Belts/hoses: as needed or 100k mi.
