Hey Ryan, what length rear springs did you end up going with?

6s up front, 6s in the back as well.
I've been crappy about updating this, mostly because I've been pretty insanely busy getting everything together. Have settled on 1000lb rear springs for now. At 575 up front, might drop a tiny bit (525 at most). |

I use a helper spring with a 1in compressed stack height back there. I couldn't use a 7in without a helper either. Maybe not even an 8 without a helper, or it would become decoupled pretty easily. The helper maintains tension.
Kyle's rear perch setup is radically different than the JRZ setups, so he runs VERY tall rear springs in comparison. |

No noise at all from the suspension. Or, really anything at all. I'm pretty OCD about that kind of stuff.
IMO, 7s are ideal. I ended up with a very good deal on a big pile of 6s, so that's why I have those. 7s allow you to keep the adjuster in the middle of its range for most ride heights. A 6in spring with a 7-800 spring would be rather low on the adjuster. That said, I run pretty high in the rear (which most everyone should be doing on both ends of the car for best geometry in roll), so if you're all stance works slammed (iirc you're lower than me looking at pics, but also on bigger wheels and it's hard to tell from pics) , then 6s might be a better bet. My car was lowered pretty much exactly like Kyle's car is, and the rear height adjuster ended up in the middle of adjustment range with the 7" and helper. Sounds like I'll be keeping it like this. Currently getting my JRZ RS completely rebuilt by JRZ NL right now, cannot wait to get them back although I am not sure they will be installed right away. It's just pointless to need them on my commute to work. |

Kyle *was* shitslammed, basically like my picture above.
My car is around 3/4in higher all around now. The short update on this build: - Added rear bar. - Switched to Epic Motorsports tune. - Running BFG Rival S now. - 575F / 1000R springs. - Awaiting finishing up custom exhaust. - Added lightweight battery. - Added AFE Intake. - Fixed bad off-the-shelf eibach front bar fitment (very bound up as delivered). - Got a janky alignment on a wacked out rack, fixed now. Trying to set up a car you think has 1/16 toe in that actually has 1/2 sucks. Between that and some other issues I've wasted a lot of time. - Found a 2-way adjustable UUC front bar to test. They no longer make an adjustable front. - Debating dropping front springs a bit. Have 500s and 550s around as an option. Doubt I will go as far as 500. Pace to run up top is there, have to work on making the car drive consistently. I now have two weeks to do sort that out. Hopefully this latest iteration is pretty good. Have OEM aluminum front calipers to swap on. Last edited by RyanDavies; 04-21-2016 at 05:13 PM.. |

I raised the car up, not to the extent in the rear I don't think, but I'll take pictures tonight to post. |

So how did you both come to the conclusion of raising the car up? I was lowered pretty much exactly like you were and you ran that height for a while with success IIRC.

However, in the search to correct the sweep nature of the car, we felt it's necessary to allow the car to have a bit more travel to let it "load up" and thus not create instant push on entry for sweepers. We're trying to address the worst issue of the car, everything about my car was fantastic. If this gets fixed it will be a very, very good year. |

I got to say, in terms of aesthetics, I actually like this look better than when it was more slammed.

Pfft. He needs some Forgestars.
Kyle and I have both spent a lot of time this off-season chatting and trading thoughts that ought to help unlock some speed for both of us. I contend that Kyle would be the 2015 National Champion if his car had been "right" on Day 2. If everyone returning to the national scene in STX, he's the one who I'd most be worried about. Lots of new blood though, and some folks coming back after hiatus. Should be among the toughest classes in the sport. |

That's a bold claim, if I had a better West Day 1 then yes that would be a better statement. For reference having one wheel at 30 minutes of toe-in isn't ideal. |

The reason you did better with the car not lowered is because unless you correct the roll center when lowering by using a modified spindle, the car will actually lose camber when cornering. Yes, LOSE camber. Usually the penalty from that outweighs any benefits of a slightly lower CG.
