I had a Shark on my full bolt on S52 as well. I remember when the S54 came out Conforti, creator of the Shark, said there was 2-4hp left on the table from the factory. That was the nature of S54 for a long time until Evolve changed the game. From what I've seen since both in person and across forums is that that level of competency does not change based on platform for them, something that isn't usually seen for a tuner. Hence why it would be the outlier for them if there tune for the N52 was equivalent to the PBX(a statement I find amusing as my throttle wasn't changed in the slightest). Bottom line, I guess I need to make getting a dyno a priority.

I never said they made the most there? And I can't say I'm that plugged into S54 tuning currently to know who makes what.

I think your engine is restricted by tune, manifold and headers whilst mine is (was) heavily restricted by the tune and also the headers. My headers look exactly the same as the 128i's. So tell me, the guys who will dyno your car.. Do they also tune? What kind of discussions did you have? |

Ok so my image of a DISA was completely off... I have 6 tubes going to the block..
Edit: No wait, the box should be under the manifold right? Check stigs thread on the manifold. It looks different than the pic you just attached. Again an edit: I looked it up on a German forum and I do have the DISA. However, it is restricted to being 2 staged. A tune gets it to full 3 stage. This is BTW if I translate it correctly. You speak german by any chance? :P Last edited by Pothole; 01-30-2014 at 01:48 PM.. |

No it's the same. There is on on the front and the back of the manifold. This is the top, the part you see.

This is the back side, you can't see this side when it's installed. You can see the second DISA valve. The first pic was the front were the intake tube from the air filter box attaches to the throttle body. If you don't have these boxes, front and back, you don't have a DISA manifold.

According to me it says: I have the DISA but it's been restricted to 2 stage by software. |

Well that's good news! Once I get the tune, which I'm still leaning toward evolve ( based on recommendations here and from friends in the m3 flight club) and once I install the tune and manifold I will have it dyno'd. Then we will know exactly how much usable power this swap makes on a stock 128i. Not that I want to experiment with 900 bucks, so Stig get that dyno up so I can make a somewhat educated guess before I hit the buy button.

To remind people of my tune's dyno issues:
150 km since the flash, under 24 hours, same oil but 3 months older, no intake, stock filter. My dyno used "94" octane from Petro Canada. This is just 91 + cleaning detergent. The Shell 91 gas feels alot better than Petro back to back. Especially with the Eurobox. The AA tune of e90 328ix of Desi4life10 on the same dyno as me, dyno'd pretty much the same: with limited gains above Disa only. He had an intake & used the "94" Petro gas. I dont know how many months apart his dyno was. The only mystery tune left - that is remote is P-torque. They are still having a sale on babybmw

Don't forget Octane rating is resistance of detonation, so unless it is seriously hot out the difference between 91 and 93 will be very small. Plus you factor the tolerance level for each octane isn't precisely 91 or 93 octane.

My dyno was in the winter months. Evolve= Feb, Disa - Nov/Dec
Shell 91 is the only one locally to me that does not have the label - up to 15% ethanol
