Cool Carbon is more of a street pad than track pad and can't really be compared to the DS2500. Yes, they are a great thermal barrier to keep heat away form the pistons and reduce the possibility of boiling the brake fluid. |

Someone also suggested Pentosin Super Dot4 - but I am looking at their website right now and get the funny feeling that Pentosin DOT4 LV is what we have OEM. so thoughts? |

Motul RBF 600 and you won't have a problem, my brakes get extremely hot at the track, and I have not had an issue with RBF 600.

Okay, that is what I was leaning towards anyway, and I can get it local. Thanks much.

With any street/track pads, when they do start to fade, just back off on your braking by lifting off the gas way early and coasting a few seconds before you brake - the opposite of late braking, so your top speed becomes 110 instead of 130. You can do that every other lap and be fine. |

I don't know the specifics of BMW stock pads. They're probably good to around 500 or 600 degrees. |

Hawk DTC-30 is even tougher on track and has a ton of stopping power. It can handle 1200 degrees, which is enough for 3 of the 4 tracks I run at. Reviews say DTC-30 is noisy in most cars, but for some reason, it's quiet in my car, but DTC-60/70 are quiet in my car too - I guess I got lucky somehow. |

Depends on which Hawk and Ferodo you are comparing. DS2500 is better than HP+ and full race pads will be similar with Hawk being better overall.

Excllent pad (I had them on my car), except the annoying chunking (which can be fixed with back plates) and squeaking noise.

Haha I just answered this in the other thread. Reuse the BMW backing plates with the new pads. If you're doing the work yourself, you'll know what I'm talking about when you see it. If a shop is doing the work, just tell them to reuse the BMW backing plates with the new pads, front and rear.
