While you're waiting for your gauge to ship, if you don't like T-tap connectors, you might want to pick up the following BMW parts:
61136925611 - PIN TERMINAL - $1.00 61138380696 - CONNECTOR - $1.62 These allow you to create a plug-and-play dimmer line harness as pictured below for plugging the dimmer line into the trunk switch. When I installed my v2 gauge, I decided not to use the vampire clip to tap the dimmer line and instead ordered these from Tischer to re-create the plug-and-play harness that was part of the v1 gauge (pictured below). The dimmer line is optional, you can manually dim the gauge at night, but I like the auto dimming feature of the gauge. I don't like to tap anything (even a dimmer line) -- using the BMW connectors to plug in just feels better Last edited by jkoral; 05-15-2012 at 03:33 PM.. Reason: Missing picture |

Basically it's not compatible with mass production... Oem parts, etc...
We started ordering our custom harnesses for our v2 units in the 1000's quantity, because we use it on BMW/Audi/vw... so it needed to be universal. We also don't want the BMW version to become more expensive than the vw/Audi units.... Right now it already includes a boost sender and a tubing kit which added $20 to the price... Which is less than those parts cost us, so it's already lower margins. Adding more BMW only harness changes would almost triple the price of the harness (because of extra labor and lower quanitity since it won't share with vw/Audi anymore) . This is a "made in the USA" product, and many aspects are hand assembled... So the only way to keep pricing compatible with allowing margins for group buys and dealers we have to make our different models share as many parts as possible. Probably too much info, but hey, Im just a 1addict as well... Might as well keep it transparent with you guys... I do need to make money ;-) -Rick |

@ Rick, not too much info at all. As a matter of fact, your answer makes perfect sense and it's rare that anyone selling something is that honest about their motivations/decision making.
Thanks
