Not to nitpick but I hate the way back light bleed out from the center dial. I see it as cut costing and not on par with the quality M logo represents.

See M3 dial as comparison

A finned diff can easily be purchased from VAC Motorsports (though at the price some might be deterred). 1M is a damn good improvement over the 135i, but I still am not convinced it won't suffer a few of the same problems the 135i has after a few WOT laps around a circuit track. I will be in love when they release a 1M in a similar guise as the M3 GTS (and I am aware of the huge price difference with that car).
I understand the creation of this car, like this car, and will maybe one day buy this car. I am not hating on this car, and if I feel a bit disappointed in output don't get so offended. Some people on here get so "butt hurt" by comments on something that is not even out yet for the public. If you actually built this car, like optioned it so that in the end this was the end result, I could understand the offense. But you didn't do this, a corporation did this within the course of a year or two and I understand that this car is towards the end of its lifecycle. Why can't I be a little disappointed on the fact that the engine (which most people take a lot of pride in) is 90% the same as the one on an "iS".
Handling is a wonderful thing, but everyone who is harping on this wake up and smell the coffee. This car is a sports car and though you will take it to the track its going to have to help you commute there. For the twisty bits this car will be awesome, especially for tight autocross courses, but on tracks with long straights I'd like a little bit more grunt. If you don't like power go and buy yourself a Mini JCW. That way you can have all the handling you want and not so much power. Not trying to be an ass, but most of the comments directed to other users are very much in the same manner. I'm a 1Addict, I love BMWs, I love the 1 series, I love M cars, but this particular M doesn't get my blood pumping in the same way an E30-E92 M3 would. For those who forgot this is a forum and opinion is going to be given, don't get so mad when someone speaks their mind.
A lot of what you say contradicts yourself... If you want more power for track use blah blah... then why do you own a 135 and not an M3, or a Mustang GT.. or a Vetter... or.. ?

I can understand a little disappointment about the same motor being offered in the 335 is.

The engine cover should be more //M oriented. Should throw red flags signifying its difference from the non-m vehicle.

Not that its a huge deal, and Im sure it wont disappoint, but it hints their attitude towards making it stand apart, and purifying M heritage.

okay, I will give you that. I am nitpicking but it still appears from car of lesser quality. Reminds me of older japanese/korean imports. You surely must agree the without the bleed, M3's dial is much classier. Living in UK you pay much more than we do in the states, I am surprised you aren't more demanding of your money.

I should have came out and said "this is an atrocity. absolute rubbish mate, I am getting a kia dial on a M car."

Maybe a N55 turbo on a N54 engine?

I still think that a moonroof shouldn't have been standard on the 135i. Maybe another $500+ could have been taken off from the base price. It should be an option as I would gladly take the money saved since I don't use mine though my wife loves it.
Does one really think that the weight of the moonroof detracts from the driving experience? Would any of us on this forum notice the driving difference between a moonroof model and a non-moonroof model while driving the streets?

The moonroof is what illuminates my car in the day time, and lets the soft glow of the street-lights in at night. It allows moisture to exit the car, and fresh air to flow in. It is my A/c in the fall and spring and summer....

oh... the moonroof.

Bmw... if you are reading thing, give me the moonroof... keep the performance that I loose with it.

It looks like the instrument light intensity is probably turned up too high.....

I agree moonroof lack is a minus, but I can deal.

I agree with rapter. Even though it only hurts the performance, a moonroof is a must for me on a street car. Thats what kept me from buying an STi (that and the cheap interior). Most of the track events I do aren't timed, and if i lose a bit of time at an autox or time trial to enjoy my roof 90% of the time I am driving my car, it's not a big deal. My friend (who has an STi) thinks I'm being silly.
