No not at all. The receiver is tucked well under the car but the arm on the Yakima is very long. I have had road bikes, xc mtn bikes, cross bikes and downhill bikes on the back and nothing comes anywhere near the bumper.

Yeah~ I haven't seen a lot of them in metro vancouver region
I still haven't picked it up
Cuz the weather has been so bad...and I haven't got snow tires yet
I was looking at tire rack online
Their price is decent
But the only hassel is that I have to pick it up across the border to save the delivery and brokerage fee
Since I have the performance brakes..I can't use 17" rims...I have to buy 18" rims
What brand of tires do you guys suggest?

I am near Brentwood mall in burnaby too, so bound to see you sooner later. There has been so much so snow I haven't driven my 1er in two weeks.

I saw a AW 128 about two weeks ago but that is about it.

Right on!

Ya the snow is getting ridiculous, I honestly cant take it anymore.

My 1er has been in the shop for a week with a broken window and its amazing how much I miss her... anyone else gone through that???

As for Skykanta, I just ordered a set of goodyear winter tires from tirerack and they should be on my car by tomorrow on the stock 18's. I'd be happy to report back to you and let you know how they are. Especially with burnaby and the lower mainland being sold out of winter tires... I paid $1080 cdn shipped to my door for the 4 tires.

I feel my arm sore from shovelling the snow...
I have to shovel at home...also at work...!!!
But today...I finally saw some sunshine around noon...
Now it's raining hopefully that'll help with melting the snow off

I can't wait to pick it up hahaha...I feel you!
But I just don't wanna rush it and having the new car gone thru the crazy snow condition...
I have full time school and work...so I have to drive everyday...

Please let me know how the snow tires are on the snow!
and also on the wet road as well~
Thanks a lot!!!
By the way...
Did you just use your stock rims?
But the front and rear are different sizes
Did you buy different size tires for the front and rear on tire rack?

I am so tempted to order a set of blizzaks from tire rack but as a typical Vancouverite, I never anticpate so much snow. I drove my '02 320i for 6 years on all seasons taking the occasional public transit when it snows.

Skykanta, I would wait to pick it up, I am sure you are a good driver but its those other crazies on the road I would worry about.

Nope, the stock 18's will fit 225's fine, I got all 4 in that size.

I believe the stock rims can take up to 225/40 front and 255/35 rear with no problems.

I'll let you know asap with the tires!

This is the worst snow ever since I moved to Canada!
I think I'll get a set of snow tires cuz the 18" M sport package performance tires will give hella lots of troubles on the snow
I don't wanna risk the car~

Thanks for your suggestion!
I was hoping to pick it up before the end of the year...just to celebrate the upcoming 2009
But now..I guess I gotta HOLD TIGHT !

Thanks man!

Are you switching the tires off the stock rims yourself? Or you're having tire shops do the mounting for you?

New 128i owner in Port Coquitlam...

Hi everyone. My wife Shannon and I just bought a new 2008 Jet Black 128i from Auto West in Richmond. I just drove it home yesterday and with the sport package, 18" summer run flats, it may be sitting idle for a few days. We hope if it is OK weather New Year's day, we'll take it out for a spin. My drive home yesterday was fun... the car goes quite well. I am coming from a Mazda 3 Sport GT, lowered, full exhaust system, air intake, drilled slotted rotors, etc and the BMW feels great. I got back into the Mazda 3 today and it still feels fine... I hope that once I get to really drive the 128, I'll really appreciate the rear wheel drive. Yesterday, it wasn't that noticeable. But it shore is purty! I'll let everyone know if I can get out tomorrow...
Happy New Year!
David.

KVMan50, welcome on board. A note though, if you have the summer run flats I wouldn't drive it around at these temperatures even without snow. At 0 degrees those tires have very much less grip. Get some snows pretty quick.

Yeah my 135 has been in the garage for coming to 3 weeks. There's just too much snow around and even if the main roads are cleared, the side streets are still a killer. Right now for the side streets, if you don't have clearance you're outta luck.

Also for those fellow boardies who are driving on their summer tires, if I recall correctly, if you get into an accident and you are not on all-seasons or winters during the winter, ICBC can choose not to cover you. You should probably check with your agent just to be safe.

I wish this snow would finally just go away and never come back. The snowfall on New Years Eve had me walking home for 45 minutes and now its very slick on the roads. To whoever is still on summers, be very careful!

This snow sucks. I snuck it out for about two hours on Wednesday. Had the top down when it was sunny and 6 degrees. Someone shouted from their pick up as I was driving down Commercial drive, "its too cold!".

Not worry, rain on the way for next week and we can drive again.
