If/When you do replace it: the only "issue" I had was the ambiguous description of the angle that you need to press with the torx driver at in order to pop the airbag loose. It's more of a 90 degrees pushed in rather than pulling back towards you while sitting in the drivers seat. (if that makes sense)
Wow, that looks awesome. Our ebrake/shifter boots aren't the snazziest. That might have to go on my steadily-growing-list for the future.

Thanks man. I also want a cf diffuser but I haven't been able to see one in person yet. I just want to see if the weave matches the performance spoiler.

I think the dark colors look better with the chrome surround and black slats our lovely cars come with - really defines the kidney grilles and gives it some depth.

greg: yes i think the chrome looks better with darker cars....even though i must admit that i am normally NOT really someone into chrome that much. I've seen some pictures of dark grilles on dark BMWs and i don't think they work as well.

Good, I think your car looks perfect the way it is, despite having license plates and no uber fancy valve stem caps nobody would see or notice.

The IS grilles are a vast improvement over the previous grilles which were all chrome. Plus, they fit our mild black accent theme with the side mirrors, etc.

Put that grille money perhaps towards the michelins come spring thaw.

Sorry about that… I know better and have used multi-quote in the past. I inadvertently had the same thread open multiple times on my iPad. Some days are like that...

I admit begrudgingly that I like it. It looks neat. Would I own one? nopenotachance. I do admire the fact that they are taking more drastic styling decisions than many other manufacturers though.

Ya, I'm with you and seemingly we're in the minority here. I don't think it looks bad at all. Granted, I'd never in a million years consider a normal one, but the AMG version is intriguing. I think the front is pretty aggressive and good looking. The back is a lil weird and droopy, but not horrible to me. Would I get one, no, but I've also driven a coupe my whole life and hope to never get a sedan. It's also much harder to make ANY sedan look good.

Lol. There's one here in our building's garage and it's fine. I see it every day but never really paid any attention to it. But those side-by-side pix are great. The IS looks incredible next to it. Too funny. Thanks for the post.

+1. Are you going to get tint? I'm going to start looking at tint next week. I've been given two recommendations on local shops - one has FormulaOne and the other has Huper Optik. I've read tons of horror stories about tinting over the dot matrix on some of the older BMWs, but the 2013 IS doesn't have many dots, so I think I'm good. But I'm going to talk to them both in depth. I'll report back!

Yes, I'd really like to get tint done. I'm nervous about them scuffing up the inside of the car though - report back with your findings!

Owen - I had a 30% Huper Optik tint on my 2008 135, and it's a really expensive and really THICK film. In terms of the dot matrix, you'll really only notice it with that film on the edges of the two side mirrors where the dots are. Mine just would never stay. That's the only real place of concern that might bother you.

FormulaOne is the same as Llumar, which I NOW have on my 135is. If you're going to get that, get the Pinnacle Series 30% or 35% depending on what they have. FormulaOne doesn't make anything in the 25% range, and not sure if Huper Optik does either or if it jumps from 30 to 20 or 15. Get quotes from both places as the Huper Optik may cost $150-200 more. Either one is great though and you'll be happy. You also might want to ask if they can put the 80% Air tint on your windshield, too. May not be as big of a deal in Denver though and cost me $200 extra to do it.

Worra - I'm about as anal and paranoid as they come to people messing up my car, but what part of your car could they possibly scuff up installing the tint? I really wouldn't worry about that. Our cars are really easy to tint. The side windows will be done with the doors wide open and there isn't really anything to scuff up in the back. If you're worried though, throw down some towels or put the back seats down. Just find a good reputable place and you'll be fine.
