How exactly did you get these numbers? And what does the -9% thing mean?

Print out of the run.
I know it only goes to like 5200prm on the graph but he ran it all the way to 7k each run. For some reason he couldn't figure out how to print the whole 7k graph out. His boss is the one that speaks english and he had to leave right when I arrived. So there wasn't much talking going on between us....

I was told that I need to subtract 9% bc of the type of dyno it is. I'm stationed in Germany (hence the weird writing and the HP being in PS) but I went online to convert the Nm into LB/FT

Okay that part makes sense, many people add correction factors to certain dyno's to make them read out like common mustang dyno's. For example a dynojet reads higher than a mustang dyno.
However those numbers seem VERY high for a stock 135i. Those seem like crank numbers not wheel numbers. Also PS is metric horsepower. Meaning that 322 PS = 317.5 HP. Not a big difference but something to keep in mind. |

On further review, the chart says "Max clutch power" = 322.86 which makes me think that this is not "Wheel horsepower" but rather corrected to estimate crank horsepower. The numbers then would make much more sense.

It was measured at the wheels. I'm pretty sure that in order to measure the actual clutch HP one would need to pull the motor out of the car. I'm new to this whole dyno thing though so I'm learning.

Yes, the dyno measures the HP(or PS) at the wheels. But... in Germany dyno graphs corrects this figure to be estimated at the crankshaft(or clutch). In the states they just say WHP. But in Germany everyone wants to know how much PS is at the engine. So... that 322 PS figure is at the CRANK, not the wheels. 322 PS (DIN) = 317 HP (SAE) 465Nm = 343 ft/lbs Looks like you got a good strong engine! BMW says the 135i has 300 HP (SAE) or 306 PS (DIN) or 225Kw. Just different ways to say the same thing. .......... Here you have the conversion formulas: DIN PS = SAE HP * 1.0142 SAE HP = DIN PS * 0.9860

Why can't it just be the same...
So that is at the flywheel? How do I know what it is at the wheels?

They may be able to go into the computer and look at the totals pre-conversion if you ask them too. Otherwise you'll just have to estimate. My guess is with drivetrain losses somewhere in the 250-260whp and 260-270wtq area.

+1 most test in this range, the 135IS will test a bit higher & the 335is will test about 319whp on a Dynojet.

20% drivetrain loss says 253 Really just depends on how much loss there actually is and also there is the 9% figure being thrown in there because of the dyno which some people dont agree with. Havnt there been numerous bone stock N55s getting 260-270whp? Not sure how much the PE adds but im sure it isnt 0. Either way it seems like a strong car and the only real way to compare it is to get a look at others that have used that exact dyno and compare that way. |

^^^ the generally accepted drive train loss is 15% so 270whp looks good.
These dynos were run by Automobile magazine. I have no idea what dyno it was run on so you can't do an exact compare to any other runs. That being said the general ranges are good for comparing the different engines output

Not gonna over analyze your numbers. That's been done enough. What's important is you will know exactly how much more power your actually making over stock. Looks like you had fun.
