1M 8HP AWD Build

Well it’s time to do another one. To be clear this is a clone but has all OEM panels so as proper as it could be.

Found a 2010 E92 335xi victim. At least it’s not a M3 Comp and not a real 1M this time 😂. Yay for another full body harness swap.

High level goals will be to run a M3 DCT rear with a 8HP70x driving the AWD system. Sucks that no one makes a front differential but looking to use xdelete to bias it.

Let the strip down begin!

Will be a N54. There is no simple way to make a S65 AWD unless your committed to fabbing ALOT.

We looked at a DCT AWD solution as well but so many unknowns. 8HP is a tank, more support and knowns.

Interesting. Do you know which brakes you're going to run yet?

I have another set of E92 M3 brakes but I may try the Porsche BBK route.

Ripping the Xi apart, including the door looms and handles for CAS. Hoping to have it 100% gutted this weekend

If you run 3.45 gears in the rear instead of 3.15, you can probably equalize the ratios by running slightly taller tire up front than in the rear... which is how M cars were setup pre MDM.

Wow, sick turbo kit. 4N right? BW 8474?

I'm very curious about the spool of this turbo. It's a big turbo.

Yes 8474 is the smallest kit they offer. From what I have read it should spool like a 6266 due to the internal WG and boost controls.

255/35 Front
295/30 Rear

This setup is almost the same height with rear being ~1-2mm shorter, and available from most tire manufacturers in both 18" and 19" fitments. Tire pressures could also be setup slightly higher front vs slightly lower rear to help dial in. I use this online tool for calculations, you can compare two ratios and tire sizes side-by-side: https://www.blocklayer.com/rpm-gear

This is the tire setup I have on my 1m clone. r888r since they're the same diameter.

Looks sick! If you can shade any more photos of how that EFR sits next to the chassis rail, I’d love to see them!
