1M vs. 135is calipers

Hey all, I've been looking to go from my 135is to a 1m, and I'm noticing a distinct difference in the calipers. The 135is calipers seem to be superior. What am I missing?

1M Front Caliper:

Hi! My first Lengthy post
1m’s and e9x M3’s have:
360mm floating front rotors
1 piston floating caliper

135i’s have:
338mm front rotors
6 piston brembo calipers

Upon my independent research these past couple months i learned that although the brembos look better and have more pistons, the internal ceramic pistons crack after several vigorous track days due to the heat. One way to overcome this is upgrading to Stainless steel pistons but then you’ll need extra cooling for your rotors as i warped mine twice without.

There’s a couple routes for upgraded as far as BBK I was going for an OEM look and opted for the f82 m4 brakes . These have 380 mm front rotors and 370 mm rear rotors! Huge upgrade from our stock 135i brakes.

Here are some pictures of my f8x brake conversion of the front and rear + Front rotor comparison!

Happy Holidays!

Thanks! I was schooled on the inferiority of the 135 calipers in another forum. Good info on upgrades - appreciated!

This was asked by me and others to BMW M and the answer is that the 1M brakes are more robust for hard use than the 135i brakes. The 135i brakes look nice, but the 1M ones more robust for heavy use.

As my personal experience, 1M caliper has more stopping power than 135i Performance 6 pot

but now changed to AP Racing caliper
