2011 135i BMW Performance Exhaust -
I picked up an "on the lot 135i" on November 27, 2010 and rolled a dealer installed BMW performance exhaust into the price of the car.
I just got a call from my CA who told me they don't make a performance exhaust for the N55 motor 135i. I told him that was BS and that the BMW website accessory section has the performance exhaust listed for the 2011 135i and that all of the 2011 135i's have the N55 motor, so, what he was telling me made no sense. I also told him that I had seen posts from members here with the N55 135i and the performance exhaust. He said he would go talk to the parts guys again - Anyone who has installed the performance exhaust and has some documentation that they could share with me that I can show to the dealer would be very much appreciated. Thanks |

Thanks for the reply not sure why the dealer is having a problem, until now they have been great - especially considering they are the only dealer in the
state how do you like the sound of the exhaust |

PE here too, rolled into price and installed by dealer w/o problems, even gave me 15% off labor. Love it, big diff IMHO. I posted some vids a couple of weeks back when it was installed but they were pretty bad quality. Will post one on this thread for you when I get a chance this weekend.

Weird man. Sometimes dealers try stupid shit like that. Don't they want your business?
Anyway, you can also point out to him that the axleback portions of the N54 and N55 are identical. The midpipes would be identical except the N55 midpipes don't have cats or a resonator in them. The PE includes the muffler, but sometimes they do a resonator delete on the midpipes. Theoretically they should at the VERY LEAST be able to give you the new muffler with no problems whatsoever, they don't even have to do the optional resonator delete and cut your pipes at all. Theoretically, this makes things even EASIER for them. Complain and ask for free shit in return for the hassle..

Latest from the dealer is now that BMW confirmed to them the 135i BMW performance exhaust fits both the N54 and N55 cars. They will order tomorrow - frustrating as I have lost a week - but looking forward to having it installed.

Good... I was going to scan my documentation for you. I had mine installed at the port on the way to my dealership.

Dropped my 135 off at the dealer yesterday to have the performance exhaust installed and the windows tinted. Will pick up later today and report in. Performance Suspension has been ordered - expected install next week.

Picked up the car at the dealer with the Performance Exhaust installed. I like it.
Its is about 25 to 30% louder than the stock exhaust in my opinion. There is much more of a burble at idle and a deeper tone when under way. Some drone in the 2000 to 2400 rpm range. Overall good sound. Reminds me a little of the English 6 cyl sports cars from the mid 60s. When the DCT rev-matches on the down shifts - it is much more noticable now because you can clearly hear the change in the exhaust note, it was much more subtle with the stock exhaust. I only have about 500 miles on the car so have not heard it at redline since I am trying my best to keep at the 4500 max revs. Engine seems to rev a little more freely but hard to discount the placebo effect when subjectively evaluting performance. There is no doubt that the sound differnce is not placebo. I was a little worried about the tail pipes no longer being the black chrome finish of the stock pipes - but, the new pipes have kind of a nice business like industrial look to them and I think it looks good with the Jet Black and shadow line trim. Next week - Performance Suspension. |
