Id like to see how much wire cutting is involved for installing one of these and effect on warranty afterwards,

My impression of Viper is.... I've heard them going off constantly since the 80s and I still hear them today with their distinctive sound. They have got to be the most annoying and worst falsing alarm on the market. I can't speak to their effectiveness, but man they false like crazy.

I used to have a viper system in my B5 A4 (bought used came with the car). My experience with it was that it was very effective and would go off if some one bumped the car, as the key fob would set off an audible alarm and indicate the impact area. Interested in the cost of installing one their newer systems.

This alarm would just buy me a one way ticket to prison when I catch the fucker. That's why I have insurance, if it gets stolen, I don't want to ever see that car again. Just cut me a check and I'll go but another car...

+1 Million. We have a winner. I'd rather the car be gone than have to deal with wondering what happened to it while it was stolen. Not to mention fighting over diminished value..

I agree with you on many levels, but in this case when you cannot get another 1M, I'd rather get her back in any form. Probably not the best outcome from an economical standpoint, but emotionally it is

I've been following the other few threads, especially the one with the owner who posted a video of his 1M being stolen and am wondering why BMW is unable to track the vehicle. Don't our cars have built in gps systems to track our location?
I'm pretty sure when I went to pick up my car from the dealership, the manager there told me that our cars would be very difficult to steal due to the built in locator; he said the only way would be for the thieves to put the car in a container that can block its signals. Of course, most thieves would probably tear it up and sell the parts but before they do that you should be able to nail down the location. Am I missing something here? |

Incredibly amateur video that has been chopped to an inch of its life.
Keep an eye on the tree to the right of the video, it jumps after every click of that remote |

i've had vipers for years in 3 different cars. yes, they false a lot...it requires turning, which takes some time. if you're not familiar with installing them, get it install professionally, because there is a LOT of (if not cutting) wire tapping. i'm kind of with Metak with this one, but that's also because I have it garaged at all times. if i didn't have it garaged, than i would definitely get something like this to prevent theft from my home at night.

I'm keen on the remote-start more than anything else. Would be handy to have the car idling and the oils moving around before I take the car for a spin. I'll definitely have it professionally installed. Just need to know if it works with comfort access.
