Thank you, for your reply. I thought if they did the rear suspension redesign, they might have moved things around a bit. I would love to have just a tire-well to drop one in there. One more question. I have to carry my kids off to school every morning and the motorized seats take too long to slide forward every morning. I have tried the back seat at the local dealership and I couldn't get out of the back seat without sliding it forward a bit. I'm not that big....5'10 200 lbs! I know that's not a big issue for many, but I do have to think about that boring stuff too! : )

Did your test car have manual seats? No one in US seems to order manual seats, but I have heard from the Brits that the manual seats can slide forward quickly. Just wondering if you noticed that since you said you carried people in the back seat.

awesome. It was always mentioned that there were 4 people in the car.

spare tire doesn't fit due to exhaust and quad tailpipes like every other M car with quad tail pipes.

Bummed about a few things now. Whether they will stop me from buying it I don't know. Individually they wouldn't be a problem but when you add them all together.

Lets see:

1 - No CF roof (is that confirmed? Do you have anything to add on that?) - very minor issue

2 - 3 colours only - Perhaps my biggest beef. Black hides the details, white gets dirty too quickly (in UK at least) and they are everywhere and orange is just too bright and look at me. I would personally prefer a nice blue.

3 - Standard hood (again, can you comment on this? Any new bulges, curves or lines) - Another minor issue

4 - Orange stitching seats - minor

5 - Not M3 (bespoke) seats (are you saying they are just the regular M sport seats like in your 135i?) - Minor

6 - Engine specs - minor

7 - LCI lights - like the fronts but the rear still contain too much white/silver, was hoping for more like 3er LCI and new 5er - minor

8 - Wheels - Is it true that the 19" may be an option and that 18"s will be standard?

As I say, one or two of these things alone would be nitpicking but if all 8 are true AND it costs £40k, then I may just have to look elsewhere.

Its still early days and I am still looking forward to December but I am soooo conflicted.

I saw the vid of the event and got all excited again and then out of it came more bad news and rumours!

Cheers,

Mark.

Interesting take... all the items you are " bummed about"... are things that would run the price up much further.

A CF roof.. on a special edition that's already at the middle half of the life cycle...? why bother? Crash tests aren't cheap.... it would have to be re-certified I am sure...

standard hood.... - see above - really... how can you want these two things and expect the car to be at a reasonable price?

The orange stitching is VERY tasteful.. not garish anyway.. not like the baseball leather stitching in the Audi TT years ago... . if anything.. it's part of what sets the car apart... if this keeps you from buying the car.... well.. your loss....

Lack of blue... see above.. this is a unique car with limited run... that's all I'll say before I get on a soap box..

Maybe I'm a little testy after an 11 hr flight back... but... really.. time to quit all the nitpicking and wait for a chance to DRIVE one yourself. I think you'll end up with a grin similar to the ones you see on all of us in the video.... and you'll soon sort out which of the " limited" three colors you want

You are right M3_Aduster which is why I haven't rushed down to my dealer to withdraw my deposit, I am still 99% for this car and will not make any decision until the full data is released.

However, the build up to this car has been intense. We have be teased with features and images by all types of media (including BMW themselves) and have been led to believe that certain things may have been included.

Now as we get closer to the reveal and official release, so many of these things have been potentially "removed" from the final product and in some cases other features have been introduced (3 colours and orange stitching) which weren't even mentioned until very recently.

Perhaps if I wasn't so much of an addict I could just walk away from the forums and Internet and ignore all the hype and just wait until the car is released like I used to do a few years ago.

Actually, the site added the picture...I'd have been entirely happy without one...

No DCT. Manual only we were told. The M guys were very definite that it was intended as a "one body-style, one state of tune, one transmission, one set-up (ie no adaptive settings")" statement of M-ness.

IB - I have manual seats in my 135i. I love them.

When I need to get in the back or my jack off of the back seat... you can either tilt the seat forward... or tilt it forward and then the seat slides all the way up forward. Then it slides back to almost where it was last.

To the OP, loved your writeup! I'm jealous of your M-adventure. All of you 1M group actually.

Spare tire

Wouldn't a donut (or perhaps a full-sized tire) fit in the trunk? I normally don't use the trunk for much.

I am probably among the minority of owners that chose manual seats (but added leather and heating as standalone options). It was a ordered car, so could spec it out a-la-cart, vs. the fairly generic/standard options each dealership picked and carried in stock. So I can tell you deifiniteively that yes, the manual seats slide forward in a jiffy, literally in less than a sec if you are fast. I don't have rear passengers often, but it would be annoying if I had to move the power seat every time and it was slow enough that I'd grow a beard in the process...

+1

I have manual leather seats with heat too (if I can get those in the 1M I would)
