Episode 4 is better, but not brilliant. I went to the taping last week, had a good chat to the producer, and Steve Pizzati. The good news is they are definitely looking at these forums and amending things where the Top Gear UK license allows them too.
If it looks like their trying to emulate TG UK, it's because they are. They've even hired some people from the production company to consult on the AU version. Watch out for the "Holden Astra Lawn Bowls" next week in Ep 4 - it's great! |

i didn't watch the whole thing only bits n pieces, but;
pizzati was downright awful reviewing the 63. (mer-ceeeeee-deeees...as if someone culdnt have taught them how to pronounce it properly) n the review was rubbish. nothing to take from it. on the other hand, im taking a liking to warren brown. i only saw a little bit of his review, but he seems to be doing quite a good job, n i like his jokes. things like addressing visibility was informative, even though the comparison with that suzuki was a bit off |

I only saw it from the X6 review and found Warren to be pretty good this time. You get the sense he is just doing his own thing and relaxing into the role a bit. Charlie continues to try a little too hard I think.
Going to stick with it though. Still shits all over that bloody test drive show.

I have my lap top with me in front of TV and it is just finished.
I enjoy this one. 8/10. IS that because my expectation is lower... the outback challenge is very well done, good picture, although the plot is little dull.

I am a Ford man but can admire the HSV 427. They needed to 'test' it more. How does it feel on the road in laymans terms? (it took a bit of time to get to 250!

After trashing 6 Astras I bet Holden might reconsider their view to the show. And did you notice the W427 clean up the road markers - more repairs that were not commented on.
I wonder if the Astras are available as demos?! Only done 1 k. I will not suffer missing an episode in the future.

That HSV must be rubbish if it really took that much effort to get to 250kph... My 2 litre diesel does 250 no drama.

Um ... did you notice that the W427 was quicker than the M3 around the test track?

Here's a picture showing the Top Gear Australia test track, which is at Camden Airport.

Has to be said: HSV for 150k or M3 for 150k.
I'm going to be controversial here and say the M3 is easily the better looking of the two, and that the HSV's interior looks like they turned a cow inside out and laid it down on every flat surface they could find. And not being able to hit 250kph with *7 LITRES* displacement is dumbfounding.

I think I like it. Treating new car as rubbish is what Top Gear UK is famous for. Remember Toyota iGo soccer game? That is more highly skilled...

That aerial belting around on the Commodore was astounding to hear. Can't believe that snuck through QA.

Yeah - that was a bit of a shame...yet kinda expected from a Commodore. Their QC needs attention.

Must admit Oz Stig seemed to be really pushing the car hard, hence hitting stuff and loosing the rear end. I don't seem to recall the same "vigour" in ep 1 when they tested a few of the initial cars. (conspiracy theory, maybe there is an alternate stig...) Anyways we will see how the 427 goes up against the DCT M (which widely bagged the DCT M versus the Man M) in the Final of the Motor PCOY in next months mag. |

this and all episodes before this one were equally rubbish. they are trying too hard and are falling flat on their face in the process rather than ignoring the british show and doing something completely different. or are we so short of imagination that we must shamelessly even pilfer the personalities of the real TG hosts? the track is far from photogenic, the commentary is uninspiring, the wit is contrived and unfunny, the news is outdated, the cartoons are tedious, the enunciation of the title of the board segment supremely irritating, and the general format entirely plagiarized. i'd rather set my hair on fire and put it out with a hammer than watch them desecrate my favorite show on TV again. pathetic...
