Continental Tires Narrower than Michelins?

So I had Michelin PSS's for a couple of years. I had 225/40/18s and 255/35/18s on stock 261 wheels. They looked great, nice and squared up vs. the original width Bridgestone RFTs. I wanted something that got better treadwear so I put some Continental ControlContact Sport AS with the same wider size as the PSS's. They do not look as good, they look more narrow, sorta like the original size. I can't even imagine how bad 215 and 245's would have looked. Is it about the same with Continental ExtremeContact DW, i.e. does the wider size not approximate Michelin?

I'm tempted to take them back and get Michelins for the look alone, but the treadwear isn't that great. My eye is drawn to the skinny tires every time I look at the car now. Damn....

All season vs summer tread patterns don't help either. But MPSS do run a bit wider. FYI, Free Vorti run just as wide as the MPSS but IMO have better tread section from 255-285 widths. Toyo also makes a damn wide tire.

Garage List
Toyo R tires are wide. Regular Toyos are among the narrowest tires IMO. Falken narrowest, then Toyo, then Nitto, Sumo, etc

Man, I wish I had asked first. I wonder if I could've gone 235 and 265 with the Continentals without rubbing?
