One thing I salute Dinan for is their openness and detailed information about their tunes.

This is what they said about tapering off boost on the high end of the rev range of the N54:

* At higher boost settings in the upper RPM range, the turbos’ RPM limit was exceeded, shortening the lifespan of the turbo. Dinan addressed this problem by tapering boost gradually at high RPM. Future plans include adding larger turbos that can handle higher boost pressures at high RPM without compromising the durability of the turbo.

* At high boost, the compressor air temperature exceeded the intercooler’s ability to cool the intake charge resulting in loss of power and compromising the long-term durability of the engine. The tapered boost at higher rpm addressed this issue as well. Future plans include the larger turbos as well as a more efficient intercooler, allowing us to increase boost at high RPM without compromising the engine’s durability while further increasing power output reliably.

Maybe the N55 has similar vulnerabilities...

Hey everyone, just updating the review. Been driving the car everyday pretty rough when the road's open to let it loose for about 1600 (2800 total) miles with the JB3 on the n55. The car has been performing to the extreme without any signs of trouble! Recently Terry has updated the JB3 to give it 12.5lbs of boost which has made the car a machine and wonder to drive, it never gets old!

Haven't really taken the car out on a long trip yet but longest drive I think was about 125-150 miles on a hot day too (100-110 degrees) and the engine hasn't had any problems or overheated. No codes thrown at any time which is great considering the JB3's in beta so all in all, great product! Can't wait until it's actually out for release!

What dyno #s are you seeing on the test cars? Is it similar to the N54 JB3?

I'm so excited to get my hands on this upgrade when it's ready!

For any upgrades on your 2011 N55 see VIVIDRACING.COM. They totally customized their N54 blk on blk. With their custom exhaust and JB upgrades as well as custom down pipes and new inter cooler. Based on this they wanted to begin a project with a N55, so I gave them my car for the prototype. Since then they made a custom exhaust and custom carbon fiber, factory ordered to specs ISS Forged 3 piece wheels. They will also do all mods to car, to include all JB upgrades, custom intake, down pies and inter cooler. See their site for pics under project cars. Look up Joe's 135 and there u can see the upgrades that have been done so far to include the custom made for my car ISS Forged 3 piece wheels. They also recorded video of work.

They sell the exhaust and carbon fiber front splitters and rear diffuser

Just wondering if the JB3 is still in beta for all 135i's or just the 2011's?

I'm looking to add some pep to my new 2008 and so far I think the JB3 fits the bill. This will be my wifes DD, so Im not looking to add exhaust or anything fancy. Just a good amount of undetectable extra power.

Jb3 is stage 3 tune open to public and completely transforms the car into a beast. I highly recommend it but would turn it off when wife is driving

Unless there is a drastic change, I dont see a problem. The car is very controllable in its stock form. She's driven my old 330whp/350ftlb SRT4, and 380whp/400ftlb 1993 Mustang coupe, so she should be fine.

Does the JB3 come with an in-cabin tune switch that allows you to switch maps? What are most guys seeing at the wheels with just a JB3?

Oh, and whats the difference between the N54 and N55?
