TPMS

what happens if you put snow wheels and tires on the car without a TPMS?

I know the light on the dash will light, but other than annoying you is that it?

Can it be shut off? this is on a 2013.

According to the '08 manual, there is an audible warning as well as the dash light.

And as a TPM warning system has been mandated by law in the US since 2008, I doubt it can be shut off.

Will be answering this shortly.

Did a couple short drives and nothing yet. I'm guessing that, just like the oil level, it takes a few miles for the system to register.

The audible warning stops after a short time. Then you are left with the yellow "!" icon and a little TPMS icon high up(next to the SES light)on the center instrument panel. I know this bc when I had a flat and used my spare tire.. that is what happened.

Ok so after an extended drive (~10mi) the TPMS will trigger the malfunction allert. Beeps, then flashes the warning, and lights the TPMS(!) and alert/!\ icon on the dash. The display will eventually clear leaving just the TPMS(!) icon blinking. This will eventually just go solid. System maintains the check alert/!\.

Next time you start the car the alert will immediately trigger.

Steady state alert afterwards (this will blink for a bit before going solid)

I was looking at my setup that currently is running Blizzaks with no TPMS and I have nothing in the instrument panel that indicates anything? I also have a summer setup that doesn't use TPMS and nothing appears on the dash to indicate anything. I also flipped through the vehicle diagnostics and it says the tire pressure is ok.

Why is this?

I have a 2011 135.....

Canadian models have TPS that doesn't use physical sensor in the wheels.

Thanks that explains it. Where are the sensors located?

^ Sounds right. My Z4 used the ABS sensors to monitor tire pressure...wish my 135 did too...
