Dumb lowering question

Of all things ive modified suspension has not been one of them. Just curious, on my stock sport suspension can i fit lowering springs on the same shocks/struts?

thanks in advance

Yes you can. BUT if you do that then it will wear out the shocks and struts faster. Think of it as your stock suspension always being compressed even when its parked and not taking any actual load from people or heavy objects. To avoid that you can get the lowering springs and for example go with bilstein b8 shock & struts, which are made for lowering springs.

Not the most educated about suspension and all so if im wrong or missing something someone feel free to correct me!

He's pretty much got it.

Lower springs on the crappy 1 series dampers will cause em to have a short life. Eventually the dampers will blow fluid... might be the fronts, might be the rears, but something is going to start dripping.

Mine was the shocks. Had to lift the tubes to see the oil residue. That happened at ~70K miles and with all stock suspension- springs and dampers.

You may want to consider your mileage- anything over 60K and they're on the far side of working properly anyway. The dampers wear so slowly you don't notice, until you replace em... Then you marvel at how you let them get so bad.

Basically, do you want to go in there just once, or do it a second time a few months later?

Yeah, at 93k miles they're knackered. On top of that you would be doing 95% of the same work if you just replace springs (everything but the shock top mount I think)

Koni Pro-kit through tirerack is about $(edit to remove massively incorrect price... see next post) for dampers paired with Eibach springs and is a great option if you don't care about adjustable dampers. Love mine

Massive apologies- not sure what the hell I was thinking about

I got my Koni Pro-kit through TireRack about a month ago for $556, then got a $50 rebate from Koni, along with free shipping.

I re-read my post from way too late last night/this morning, can't even begin to think where I got 350 from. Looking at Tirerack.com this morning the same kit is listed at $614.80, and Koni is offering the $50 rebate through the end of May.

so...., erm...., yeah. OK then.
