idrive cup holder question
I just purchased a 2011 135. I noticed through reading that the 135 with idrive should have a center cup holder which I do not have. I believe I have all the mounting hardware already in the car, I just think the cup holder is gone. If someone could confirm what I am thinking that would be great to make sure I order the correct part. I believe all I need is part # 51169122655. I have also attached a pic of what I have already in car. Thanks!

Yes sir. Missing the cup holder pictured here. It should "snap" right in the hole you already have.
FRONT CUP HOLDER PN# 51169122655 $39.23 http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?...21&hg=51&fg=95

Did you check the trunk? There is a little strap inside the trunk on the driver's side that is meant to hold the cup holder...maybe it was put back there by the previous owner or dealer.

There's been some speculation on this board about what the strap in the trunk is for. You're the first person to suggest it was intended for the cup holder. Some people think it's for a canister of oil.

I was told the strap was for the cup holder at PCD. I would never have thought of it as an oil can holder, until you mentioned it.

It's only available in LHD markets and only fitted if you have iDrive. If you don't have iDrive then you get 2 cupholders in the centre console instead of 1 + iDrive controller.
I wish it was available for RHD... |

I put one in my MT 128i vert and one in my fiancees 128i vert with automatic. They work great. It is a bit involved to pull the console but not hard. Takes about 3 hours for me, not working real hard.
I didn't really look at the underside of the console on the other side, drivers side in the US, but I think you could put one in. At most you would be trimming some plastic on the underside of the console and messing with a L-shaped mounting bracket. My guess is it would be the same as I've done twice now. It was unbolt and rebolt except for cutting the hole. Jim

These cupholders are only good for 12oz cans, every other type of drink leans out of it when you accelerate/brake or turn quickly. Kind of annoying
