Nice work on projected/forecasted path and timeline! I concur, AISlive will pick up the D J trace by 18:00 - 19:00 EST. I expect the D J to slow down once within AISlive range and I will revert back to your estimation of a 22:00 - 23:00 EST landing, again dependent on weather and traffic patterns. Also you know you're getting close to land when the sailwx.info stops being useful Everything is, as it should be ... Cheers!

I assume aixlive is a harbor cam, or Halifax website of some kind?? What is the actual address so I can take a peak.. My CA told me today I could see anything from 4 days to 7 from docking in Charleston to arriving at Athens BMW according to how many cars were at the VPC.. I hope its not a big crowd.. Thanks again for the updates

Just thought I'd toss the latest ETA from Port Halifax's Daily Service Report for today.... Looks like we're expected in the Autoport near midnight!

Perhaps there are not a tremendous amount of vehicles unloading in Halifax?? I would think that the majority of the DJs cars will come off in NYC. Just guessing though. They might clear the Tancred in a few hours.. Saw a guy in a traffic jam on I-20 today in what appeared to be the M version of the Z3 roadster.. Had an M badge and quad pipes out the back etc.. Car was completely trashed.. Back window was hanging in shreds. Dents all over the car, looked like it hadnt seen a wash bucket in years. Passenger side was so full of trash you would need a shovel to get someone in there.. I cant believe that people will let such fantastic vehicles get in that condition.. There should be a BMW rescue thing like they have for dogs....

KL2DC - Thanks for inviting me over to this thread.
I gotta say, this just cracks me up! We are such a data-driven society (and I imagine most of us are pretty well-educated, and most could be considered "techies") that we can now track our very own car from inception through delivery, almost directly to our door! Insanity! I love it! The port web-cam is great, but man we need real-time satellite views. I suggested this to a few guys at work and they thought it might not be a good idea as I might end up seeing some drunken crewmen doing donuts on the deck with my car! Well, I'll continue monitoring this thread with great interest, knowing full-well that there's nothing I can do but watch and wait. We'll have to make sure to share pictures of our new babies once we take delivery!

Ok ... I can't seem to locate a bill of lading number that corresponds to a Halifax NS destination, my intention was to estimate how much loading/unloading time is required to clear the D J. Interestingly, our bill of ladings are mostly serialized ... i.e. for N.A. shipment they run from DE41970 - DE41975 (my car being part of DE41973). If anyone can source a Canadian bill of lading number, that would be awesome....for supposition/entertainment purposes.
Btw as 22:39 EST, the D J is still not showing up onthe AIS...

The good news is the Tancred (which was scheduled to arrive a whole 4 hours before the D J at ETA 20:00EST 02/24) is nowwhere to be seen... so I assume she had been cleared quickly and is well on her way to her next port of call.
Perhaps this quoted post dated 08/13/04 from another associated forum might provide a little insight on the 'efficiency' of the Halifax Autoport Dock crew in unloading the cars "Autoport Staff Driving New Cars. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Just want to share. I have been transfered in Halifax Nova Scotia. We have the autoport where all the cars from Europe are arriving to Canada via cargo boat. As I was driving by this week I noticed that the staff is driving the newly debarked cars (BMW, MB and others) quite aggressively without of course a proper warmup and as you all know not broken in. I am concerned because of potential damage that could be done to cars prior to delivery that could set potential future break down. I read somewhere that the first 200 km are critical in the cars life. I called the autoport to complain and I also called my dealer ( my new M3 is awaiting a boat in Europe, status 93) who was quite pleased to hear that so he could complain up his chain of command. Jeff" Pics (dated) of cars at the autoport : http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=1928458 Indeed!! ...

Well, I went to bed rather late (around 3:30am EST), and neither the Tancred nor the DJ were visible on the AIXLive site...though there were other ship movements the information was updating. Anyway, when I went to bed, neither ship was within range of Port Halifax. So, assuming as you have the Tancred made port before the DJ, it would have had to make port, dock, unload, and scramble out of there in a matter of less than 5 hours. If they are that efficient at Port Halifax, then we should be in port for a very short time indeed! BTW...good morning!

Top o' the morning to you too Mr. Fletcher... Much credit to you (again) for keeping a vigil for the D J's docking. I was quite surprised to not see the Tancred within reasonable range and I remain optimistic for a quick turnaround in Halifax ...
Any good leads for webcams and other ship monitoring resources whilst we are docked in Halifax?
