The local dealerships around me in Arizona were still priced around $1350 before installation. I didn't do a very extensive search but I did watch prices on eBay and look for local discounts. I ended up pulling the trigger on a new PE on eBay for $850 with free shipping from a dealer on the east coast who I assume was getting rid of their stock. I can't really give an estimate on a used one but considering what I paid new maybe you can find a value below it that makes sense for you. I've enjoyed the PE so once you decide on a price point you feel comfortable with chances are you will as well.

Make sure that wherever you get it, you get the Y-pipe with it. The Y-pip is an optional part that replaces the stock resonator and including it dramatically alters the sound and gives the PE its distinctive tone. IMO, without the Y-pipe, you might as well just save your money and do the golf tee mod.

Chk eBay. Sometimes there is a BMW dealer who sells PE Exhausts on EBay for about $850. You should ideally then contact your local dealer & see if they'll price match it. My local dealer did price match it & I think I was able to pick up a brand new PE (including Y pipe) for about $850.

Bought mine local for $540. Check the for sale listing and the regional sections. I've had luck in past with convincing members in another region to ship. The exhaust is awesome. Best money I've spent so far on any mod. Good luck with your search.

I agree with this. If you get the PE, try to get the Y-Pipe as well. They are meant to go together and sound great. If you buy it used, the Y-Pipe may not come with it. It is part of the pkg if you buy it new.

I paid $899.99, new from a BMW dealer on ebay for the whole kit (muffler, y-pipe, mounting hardware)... In hindsight, I would have gone with the Y-pipe only . I'm pretty sure it would sound great while keeping the OEM look... Just my $0.02

Personally, I like the stainless steel tips on the PE over the black tips that come on the 135i.

I think this will largely depend on the color of your car... I'm sure the polished steel looks awesome against black or grey car... For my AW... umm, I'm cautiously optimistic that it will grow on me (I literally just came back from the muffler shop after getting my PE installed).

The stainless steel tips look awesome on my LMB, but I agree that the black tips could look great on your AW.

Driving home from the shop, I kept the windows down and radio off - I can see myself doing that a lot more now .
The sound is tastefully aggressive and the burbles are intoxicating without being obnoxiously loud.

That's the way I drive all the time since I got the PE. Glad you're happy!

Generally a new PE will sell discounted for $900ish. And used for around $500 to $600. The exhaust comes in such a huge box... its best to go to your local dealer and barter with them. Most guys have had luck telling their local dealer they will buy from them IF they come down on the list price.

I think I paid just under 700 euros for my US PE. The German/EU ones are quieter! Like people have said... its the BEST sounding exhaust there is for our cars. I really like mine. And over time, the sound just keeps getting better and better!

Has anyone done y-pipe only on n55? Or have a link to a sound clip? I didn't see any in the exhaust sound sticky.

I bet it would sound awesome. A friend of mine has a N55 with only a AR catted (high flow) downpipe with the stock exhaust... and his car sounds really good!

Not quite PE good, but quite good to my ears. Especially as he comes off slow canon corners and you hear that turbo spool up.

I thought the PE was the same whether it was for the 135i or the 128i. Learn something new every day. Thanks Dack!
