Callout for RHD P3 Vent, Who wants one?
Hey Guys, I am in no way affiliated with P3 cars, but man do I want to get my little hands on a right-hand drive boost gauge.
If you're like me, and would be interested in purchasing one, speak now or forever hold your peace. Perhaps with enough interest expressed we might be able to twist the arm of those cats and get ourselves some right-hand loving (that doesn't sound quite right). I'm in Australia, but this of course applies to England, New Zealand, Japan, South Africa, etc etc. Registered: 1. Clutchcargo 2. BMW86 3. BBK 4. micha3l 5. Shifty 6. Woodhus 7. Si-135i 8. Hey mate I've tried to get one of these going before with no success. Rest assured, a RHD P3 Vent is in the works already, well at least that's what we've been told. I think they are seriously underestimating the amount of demand there actually would be for these RHD units.

Now that the LHD gauge is finished and I have them in stock, all caught up on orders... we have moved all attention to the RHD model, which has already been designed.
CAD files, circuit boards, etc are created mostly... we are just waiting on the first production sample board to come in, and then its go time for a group order with minimal wait time. LHD to RHD conversion is pretty easy... we just mirrored everything... the part that takes time is re-routing the circuits and solving electrical noise issues that sometimes pop up with tight designs like this... accuracy and quality of course are our HIGHEST concerns. |

Nice work Rixster, happy to be a beta-tester guinea pig (I've heavily modded previous cars so can comment on clearances/bugs/issues if you don't have access to a RHD car) just ping me and I'll transfer some funds when you're ready.

Hi Si, this is the thread for registering interest, there is another P3cars thread that details fitting etc. Apparently a beautiful bit of kit and not that onerous to install. You in?

As long as I don't need to make revisions, I could get them done and shipping in 3-4 weeks. If I have to re-tool somthing, more like 4-6 weeks. I don't like to ship stuff 'til its perfect thanks! -Rick |

I would really like to see closer to 30-40 on a list before I order the final batch.
Problem is, I need to sell close to 100 to re-coupe dev costs... sounds easy enough, but not if you take the RHD 335i gauge for example: I have sold hundreds and hundreds of the LHD models in the last couple years, 100 of those just over the 2009 holidays! RHD 335i gauges... I sold a total of 11 so far. Pathetic... total waste of time and money to even create the RHD version. Will the 135i gauge be different? I would like to know how it could be... is the 1-series more popular in RHD? Could the 120d be a good candidate? Thanks guys! -Rick |

So guys, if your name isn't in the top post, let me know here that you are interested in this.
Rick, have many of the dev costs (in the display unit for instance) already been absorbed by the LHD unit? I would have thought when more of the RHD guys get their cars out to meets etc then you would get a further flow on sales. But my customers say that to me all the time so I won't make any assumptions!! In any case, it might be that the margin needs to be slightly higher, say 100-150 more on the RHD units to cover the shortfall a little. I'd be happy to pay that. But anyone else interested, speak now, or forever hold your boost-figures. Also, I haven't posted this on any other forum, if anyone else active on the other forums can you post a link here? Thanks. |
