Car Jerks Forward

I recently purchased my 08 135i in December with 23000 miles on it. It currently has 30,000 miles and since day one that I bought it every time I take off from a cold start and I hit a stop and the break is applied for longer that 10 or 15 seconds when I release the break the car jerks forward like if someone hits me from behind. I have taken it to the dealer several times for it and the last time they told me that it was something called “start assist” and that was normal. It only does it if the car is cold and after it warms up it doesn’t do it anymore. Also if I put it in manual mode in first gear it will not do it. Does any one have this problem? My car is completely stock.

Sounds like the same issue I had with my '08. It's really obnoxious. The lunging forward was so bad it was completely obvious from outside the car. The dealership was tripping over themselves trying to figure it out, until they finally realized that I just needed a firmware update related to the tranny. No problems ever since. I can't exactly remember the specifics of the update, but that should get you going. Hope that helps.

Mine does it too but it just feels like one of those things that is like "well it does it, I don't understand why, but obviously BMW made it this way." it really only is when it's cold or try it I'd you hit the brakes really hard coming from like 60 an then let them out at 5mph then get back on them slowly, it pushes forward.
